My wife and I will be retiring in five years and plan to purchase in the Villages. We will both be retiring from New York State. We also plan to use the NYSHIP medigap insurance that New York State offers.
My question is; Do the doctors in the vicinity of the Villages widely accept New York State retirement insurance?

My wife and I are new to the villages. We are both NYS retirees. Not to worry with NYSHIP, it is accepted worldwide.

My wife and I have insurance coverage through NYSHIP. We both have several ongoing medical issues. NYSHIP has a huge network of participating providers in Florida and in the vicinty of The Villages. Our insurance plan is so widely accepted that every doctor my wife and I have wanted to go to is participating.

We currently have CDPHP but they won't cover us when we become Florida residence. (Neither one of us are 65 and under medicare yet)

My wife and I had CDPHP when we were in Albany. When we moved to Florida last year, both my wife and I had to enroll in the Empire Plan. Fortunately, the Empire Plan is affiliated with the United Health Care network here in Florida and most doctors seem to be participating providers.

The information you've provided is very helpful to us. One more question though if you will... who is your perscription drug provider?

The Empire Plan provides prescription drug coverage. We usually go to the CVS Pharmacy here because that is who we dealt with when we were in Albany.

Thanks Niels. I guess that I can stick with the plan that I have.
Skyguy79, I'm glad that I raised the issue. Looks like it helped you out.
Gentlemen I currently live in a small town 50 miles South of Albany. It was sunny and 40 here today and fell through the thirties down to 32.
Five years 4 months and counting.
