For those of you who have flown with their pet (Southwest) what is the procedure during checkin? Do you need to remove the pet (in our case- a cat) from the carrior or does the cat stay in carrior while it goes thru x ray scanning. Is it necessary to hold the cat while I go through the scanner?

Don't know about cat, but I do carry dog thru when I go thru security (remove him from carrier)

Never flown with a cat, but with dogs, we remove them from carrier, then the carrier gets scanned.

Dogs are less squirmish than cats. I'm afraid he might fight to free himself.

I'll be going thru the scanner at 7 p.m. tonight. I will soon know. If anyone hears about a crazy cat running around the airport you'll know whose it is.

Wanna borrow my cat-scratch apron and bite gloves? Teehee.

Leave your cat inside the carrier . . . . Ann Coulter says radiation is good for us.
