Last evening (Saturday) I went to Havana CC for the first time. I had heard from friends that the food was terrible and not to ever go there.

We were seated at a large booth, had a very personable waitress, drinks were very reasonable priced, entrees were reasonable priced - and everything tasted wonderful.

No complaints at all about Havana. I will be returning there.

We were at Havana on Friday evening with a group of approximately 20 people. All were seated together on the patio....service and food was very good.

Havana is definitely on my list of "return to" places.....

Nice to hear good comments about Havana as the place had been slammed in the past. Possibly new management in place which helped turn things around because that's what's gonna make or break the business. There's a whole lot that goes into overseeing the operation from food prep to service and a weak manager will take any establishment down to it's knees.

It is so nice to hear that Havanna is on the upswing as several people have complained about the food and service. It has some dishes that I will be looking forward to trying.

Has anyone tried the "pahella" lately. How was it?

Hey, Memason, Mr. Mac9 and I were there with a group also. Wasn't the entertainment great?! The singers, Goldyrox, will be around here a long time if they keep up that pace! They're going to be there for the next 3 Fridays.

Really glad to hear this as it is closest to our house in Hadley.

Does anyone know if management has changed lately? Well, one way or another, it is GOOD news!

Didn't someone post a couple of weeks ago that the food manager and much of his staff went to The Waterfront?

Enjoyed lunch at Havana last Wednesday. They have a GREAT menu and the food was just as great! In fact, I think this was the most enjoyable meal of any club I've eaten at TV.

We were there Saturday night as well. Despite other comments, we have not had anything but a good experience at Havana. We often take guests there due to the consistency of food and service. We had guests with us on Saturday and they enjoyed the meal and the sunset.

Don (the former manager) did go to Amelia's at the Waterfront. don't know if anyone followed him. We frequent Havana's...there is a new Chef and he is doing a terrific job! Also... entertainment every night which is quite nice in my opinion.

Our Monday neighborhood golf group has been stopping at Havana the last few weeks after golf for drinks and appetizers. Our group size varies as we could have 12 to 20 folks but Havana says no problem and sets up on the patio for us when we come in even if everyone is not there. Food and service has been pretty good.

Oh Boy,,,, is this a complete 180 from what we used to hear. Good to know, glad to hear but just don't order the veal piccata, its like shoe leather. I eat there at least 3 times a week and there are good days and bad days, so I keep my menu selection to those things that I know will be good. I've always had good service though and I love, love, love the entertainment but I wish we could have more of it outside, it was beautiful out there in the past.
Thanks Havana for getting your act together.

Kath,

As usual, you are spot on. I, too, love to go there for the entertainment and the proximity to our home. The food can vary so I stick to certain items. I really hope they keep things moving in the right direction. Since the involuntary departure of one member of their waitstaff - service has been consistently good.

Went to Havana last night for dinner. Have waited this long to post to remove any emotion. Walked in and there was no one there to seat us. Another couple ahead of us so asked if they had been waiting long. There answer "to long" So we waited another 5 minutes and finally the hostess showed up and seated the first couple then us. Our waiter was fine. Took a while for drinks to arrive, but I guess the bar was busy. Our food did arrive, we both ordered one of their nightly specials. Very mediocre at best. I counted 22 people working there, kitchen, wait staff, hostess, etc. Almost as many people working as patrons. Workers stood around talking and not taking care of the people. That is what I learned where the hostess hung out instead of greeting new customers. Two tables near me called for the manager. One because they ordered the salad bar and no salad plates were delivered. Not sure what the issue was at the other table, but they had some problem.

I have been to restaurants where they are more diners and 1/3 the staff they have and the service and food were outstanding. Everything about the dining experience last night was below par. I personally will never go back until the owner or manager or whoever makes the decisions there is gone. They really have no clue about managing a service oriented business.

I've been to Havana about 5 times in the last 2 weeks. Service has been top notch every time. My expectations might be low, but the food is Ok and what I expect at the country clubs, especially at the prices we pay. If I want a great meal with impeccable service, I eat at home! :D. We rarely eat alone at the clubs, so ambiance and conversation with friends is the priority for us.

I will keep going back....

I think the food is better too but do not understand why in the early evening they cannot have outdoor music. The patio is lovely. The dance floor inside is impossible. So many people go for the music as well. Surely there could be some accommodation with the neighbors who complain--perhaps just some nights? We almost bought a lot nearby and I would welcome the music.

I was at Havana last evening and someone in my group commented that one of the regulars in our Friday couples golf group complained to the manager about the loud outdoor music, when trying to have dinner and conversation on the patio. I always thought the loud music issue was with the neighbors, but it might have been with Havana customers ...

Don't know, but it does put a different spin on the issue.

I stayed away from Havana during the crowded time. went back about a month ago on a Thursday night for German night. Outstanding. Have been back twice since on Thursdays still great. As for the music it seems the people on the other side of the golf course opposite the outside area don't all like music and know who to contact to have it stopped. It's a damn shame because the outside is great area for music and it only plays till nine. I didn't think 9 PM was that late since that's when the squares ends it.

The music at Havana is a turn off for our golf groups as well. We go to dinner to eat and socialize. When you can't hear what anyone says it puts a real damper on the evening.

Friday night the music in the corner beyond the bar was loud and an annoyance when we were trying to enjoy our dinner. The complaint didn't come from our table but it could have. We were there at 5 PM and didn't expect the live music.

And the Pizza was really good - they let you choose your own toppings for $.50 per topping in addition to the $8.95 base price for a medium size pizza.

The music at Havana didn't start until 5:30 on Friday night. If it was so annoying, why didn't you eat on the patio where you would not have been disturbed? We came specifically for the music and found it enjoyable. The crowd around the bar was much noisier and rowdier than any of the entertainment!

Someone in my group [before I joined them] complained about the music OUTSIDE; not inside. They were sitting on the patio and the music was too loud to have a conversation. This happened months ago, by the way.

My only point was that it may not have been ONLY the neighbors of Havana that complained about the outside music. It might have been the guests at Havana that got the outside music stopped.

Our group of 8 people went to Havana to have dinner at 5 PM. We came specifically for the dinner, had we known that loud music started at 5:30 right next to where we were eating we probably would not have gone there. We were not advised that we should sit on the patio to avoid the loud music starting at 5:30 and if we were so informed we would have left because it was too hot to eat outside.
The crowd at the bar, right next to our table, was not an issue.

Four of us ate there Sunday evening after golf. Food was good, service was fine, beer was very cold, and didn't notice any cleanliness issues. We all remarked on how well Havana has bounced back from its early inconsistent times. We had an awful Thanksgiving dinner there in 2009 and didn't return for over a year. Been back 3-4 times in the past 6 months and had a good experience each time.

Just a counterpoint example, not denying you experienced what you said.

I have felt that Havana has improved on their food of late, but I recently had a very bad service issue and took up the problem with the manager. Waited 45 min just to get an iced tea??? They were very apologetic and wanted to do anything they could to rectify the issue esp since I am a very good customer, but my patience was spent so I left.

We ate there last Saturday night with 6 folks. Service was great but the food was so so. My steak tasted like it was cooked in the oven not on a grill(I know this because all winter I cook it that was due to deep snow on the grill) Chicken Cordon Blu had the ham and cheese on the outside of the chicken... we had a great time and the singer was really good. VERY reasonably priced!

Katie Bells was probably the best meal of the week with prime rib special and a HUGE lobster tail added for $8.....SUPERB!

Does anyone know if management has changed lately? Well, one way or another, it is GOOD news!

They had staff change several months ago and it has improved quite a bit. We live right next door and had the worst meals in the villages from Havana. We have been back recently and have been happy with the improvements in food quality. It has always been a nice club, just needed the recent shake up of kitchen staff. Give them a try now and you will be surprised at the change.

Unfortunetly...Things seem to have gotten back to where they were before. Specials are offered and when you order it (even on a slow night) they are all out. Service is not good and everytime we are there... new people are working. Why can't they keep their help? We USED to go on Wednesday to see Two Old Boyz (from NJ) and now are told they are not there.
What happened? We enjoyed their music...even though people continually gripe about the music at Havana. The music isn't that lous there and IF it is... go outside where the grumpy neighbors had the music stopped.

"grumpy neighbors"

I live across the street from Havana and frequent Havana; I am a "neighbor"; I don't think I am particularly "grumpy"; some nights the music was pleasant, others not so much; and on those otherwise pleasant nights when I had to go inside and close the lanai doors in order to read a book or watch TV I thought about calling Chris or The Villages or the Sheriff, but did not ... some of my neighbors did and I can understand their position ... there are at least two sides ...
