Homosassa, FL –- Villages golfers Ed Fletcher, Tom Gallagher and Dave Cox scored the low rounds in the Championship Flight at Sugarmill Woods Country Club here in the Senior Amateur Golf Tour of North Central Florida tournament, Monday, April 18.

Fletcher recorded his fifth straight round of 75 to place first, while Gallagher was second with a 76 and Cox third with 78.

“I missed an 18-inch downhiller on the last hole to get off the ’75 train’, Fletcher said. Cox had the most birdies of the day, including two back-to-back.

In the A Flight, Guy Laniel placed first with a 79 and Jay Kocher was third with an 82.

Jerry Smith eagled the 320-yard par four fifth hole. “I hit a 147-yard 7 iron from the fairway,” Smith said. “And it went over a little hump in the green so I didn’t even get to see it go in the cup.” He went on to also birdie the 135-yard par three fifteenth, for a final score of 76 to win the B Flight. Smith lives in Spring Hill, FL.

In the C Flight Terry Campbell shot an 86 to come in first, while John Tayman had an 89 and Roger LaGreca had a 91 to place second and third, respectively.

Ed Fletcher was a well known amateur player for us "not so well known" golfers from MA. Sounds like your AM Tour is getting some traction. It has been a great winter for it weather wise. Congratulations!
