Beautiful Kate had the prettiest wedding dress. It was just right for her and simple and elegant and very regal.
I think it was far prettier than Diana's.
THAT was a danged perfect wedding!!
Hope they continue for a long and happy life together. I think they will.

:agree: It is a beautiful dress...simple, yet elegant. I think the comparison to Grace Kelly is spot on.

Lovely dress, lovely wedding. Much more dignified than Charles' and Diana's, which seemed like a celebrity circus at the time and deteriorated rapidly.

Unlike Diana's dress which now looks dated and out of style, Kate's dress will still look good 30 years from now because of it's simple elegance. I heard some stylist on NBC say it didn't have a "modern silhouette" and was "too traditional", but that is precisely why it will look good forever. Beautiful wedding!!!

Beautiful dress, beautiful bride, happy couple. Gracie, you and Sweetie deserve every bit of happiness you have had. May you have many more. (And Kate's dress was very lovely, too.)

Kate looked serene and elegant. Her dress will definitely be copied. Couldn't watch all of the coverage this am..had to go to work. Luckily the networks replayed the highlights of the wedding tonight.
I'm 9 months older than Diana...Diana would have turned 50 this July, and this July is also the 30th anniversary of Charles and Diana's wedding. I remember getting up really early to watch their wedding in 1981. My dad thought I was out of my mind up that early to watch strangers get married :) I told him "It's a girl thing." Diana died about 3 months after my mom passed away...my heart was heavy watching William and Harry at Diana's funeral. At least I had my mom until I was 36. So glad to see William happy. According to CBS, William and Kate will be living in Wales for about 2 years as William has military duty there. Best of luck to Kate and William.

I agree about your photo.... thought you were Jackie K at first. Congrats!!!! and agree too about Kate and dress but at the time I did think Diana's was beautiful...and remember she was much younger and naive when she got married!

Such a great couple are these two royals. They chose to live in a cottage near where the Duke of Cambridge (formerly known as Prince William) is stationed in a small township and they have chosen to have no servants. What a team, eh?

I thought yesterday's wedding was beautiful.
I love Gracie's wedding photo. The bride and groom look like movie stars! And the dress is another timeless classic, like the new Duchess's.

I think it's wonderful this young couple seem to be down to earth and will be trying to live a simpler life. They may have a better chance of having a successful life together than the groom's parents did. In hind-sight his folk's marriage almost seemed doomed on their wedding day. There didn't seem to be that giddy happiness that I seemed to sense yesterday at Will and Kate's wedding. PLUS...I loved the more simple elegance of yesterday as well.

What did you think about Fergie and Andrew's daughter, the princess Beatrice's choice of hat?????

gracie girl, i have enjoyed this thread, but most especially your wedding photo...we are all products of an earlier, more traditional time...i hate to see it changing but i do think the privacy from having no servants will bode well for this young couple's future...look at all the taboid stuff that came from diana's servants....i thought diana's gown was something only a princess could wear, and very appropriate at the time, and beautiful...kate chose to be more like a regular bride, but still looked lovely. obviously william is a lot more in love than his poor dad was...thus the giddy happiness!!

Supposedly Diana wanted to back out of the marriage at the last minute when she realized that Charles was in love with Camilla...but of course that didn't happen. Not too many 20 year olds are ready to marry someone 13 years their senior...not saying it couldn't work, but the odds may be stacked against a 20 yr. old marrying a 33 yr. old. Kate is about 4 months older than William, so no age gap there. Kate is 29, she graduated from a university and has lived in the real world. I'm thinking this marriage will work!

I agree -- their hats were over the top. And one of them needs to tone down the eyeliner.

GG, you were a spectacular bride. I'm not surprised!
I think Kate already has immense poise and elegance, way beyond her years. Queen Elizabeth must be so happy!

:BigApplause: The week before the wedding I was glued to the tv watching anything pertaining to the wedding, and the lives of Dianna, William and Kate..
I am so happy that William has found the perfect woman for him, they are truly a beautiful down to earth couple and I wish them all the best.
She was absolutely beautiful and her dress was so classy and elegent.
I am up in NY right now but was wondering if the "Tea PLantation" did anything special to celebrate the event...:
