After the Villages tornado experience, sure hope we do, does anyone know?

Nope...no sirens. But, between weather radios, Sumter "Code Red" phone notification, local TV/radio, and Orlando meteorologists (and TOTV and Facebook), there are plenty of sources for impending bad weather.
The best solution is the weather radio. We don't like hearing that blaring tone in the middle of the night, but, it could save your life.
Prior to the 2/2/2007 tornado, there was a gap in weather broadcast coverage such that most of the Villages could not receive weatehr radio notifications. Between contributions from VHA and fasttracking the approval process, a new, high powered antenna was installed in Sumter Co by July of that year.
Here's an article from wesh.com on feasibility (or not) of installing sirens in FL:

Sumter County also has a code red alert system that automatically dials your phone.
This can be your home phone and also your cell phone.

We get those weather alerts on our phone and I like that. The house is pretty sound proof.

I suggest the emergency weather radio AND the Code Red phone notification system. I have my emergency weather radio set to Sumter County only so I do not get all the Marion and Lake County alerts.
Both systems give enough warning times that you have time to grab your video camera and get to the middle of the golf course to get a good video of the tornado so yours can be the first one on WESH 2 News.

My bad on that link I posted. I didn't see that it would only let you select NY.
Bombero's is correct. I corrected the link in my post so as not to confuse anyone else.
Thanks!

Don't forget that you'll have to walk out since you're not permitted to use golf carts on the course trails for the purpose of photographing tornadoes! Oh wait! Walkings not permitted either! Oh well, so much for fame and fortune! :1rotfl:

I registered anyway and it allows you to test the phone number. It works. Maybe NY is just the central location?

If you registered before BnB corrected his post, you signed up in Suffolk Co.
New York. Let us know if the weather gets bad in NYS and they call you
in Upthecreek,Florida. (That's where you will be.) Think about doing it over again with the people down here in Sumter Co.

I used to be involved in Emergency Management in New York State. They have their own warning system. I agree with BOMBERO. It sounds like you successfully registered your phone number to get weather alerts for New York State.
You need to re-register using the correct link. Then you will also need to un-register your phone with New York State.

Just an addition to the notification process.
We just got home (Mich) from Florida. We were in Ringgold, Ga in an Holiday Express when the first tornado hit. Our hotel was the only one not touched, everything within a few yards from the front of the hotel was distroyed. What helped was the notification (sirens in this case) that gave us that last few minutes to take cover.
Once over we heard horror stories of others that are just plain lucky they were not hurt due to not paying attention to the strenght of these storms. Many were in Restruants that were completely distroyed and many also needed to be unburied to get out.
Everyone, have a radio and watch the weather channel and just think any of these could be the one to hit your house. Cars within feet from ours were distroyed completely, there were only a few that had no damage and ours was one. BUT I knew the storms were coming therefore parked in a protected area away from trees, poles and protected from the direction of the storm.
Take all the precautions you can, I hope God never let's me be that close again.
