Welcome to Talk of the Villages! Very good question. I live on the historic side and have met people who have lived in The Villages for 23 years. We just bought our home about 16 months ago.

The Hubs and I are second generation in Silver Lake. His folks came to TV in 1985. We inherited our home from them in 2009 when my precious mother-in-law passed away. Anybody else out there a legacy like we are??

I love Silver Lake. We are in Country Club Hills. That is a beautiful section and a very nice story. Second generation. I love the new homes going in over there. Beautiful.

I have an Uncle that lives in the Village of Country Club Hills who has been there for 25 years. He will turn 90 next month and still looks like he could kick some butt on the links. He is entitled to play golf for free at Orange Blossom and one other executive course and his cable tv is incuded in his monthly amenities fee.

One of our neighbors has been here 20 odd years. He just told my husband about the deal he got when he bought. It was one of the first "stick-built" homes in our area. He got the free amenities and basic cable for life when he bought too. I'm jealous!

I would guess that a friend of mine is probably the longest one here. She and her husband (long deceased) bought the third manufactured home when it was still Orange Blossom (long before Harold Schwartz bought it). She' in her 90's (looks early 70's), plays bridge fairly well, still drives (well, but not at night) and is truly a sweet woman. And, yes, she does have free cable and garbage.

WOW.The third home. I agree with Bill that she definitly wins the trophy.

I was just curious if anyone knows how to find the first recorded home owner
in TV?

Aww, I'd love to meet her. I wonder just how much that free garbage pick-up and cable has been worth now after all of these years. Our next door neighbor was telling us about the days before the Spanish Springs Town Square was built. Everyone met in a blue and white tent somewhere over near the Post Office, Mexican restaurant and the crematory. Gosh, I love this place more and more everyday.

My uncle and aunt used to rent in TV in the early 80's and bought in Country Club Hills in about '85. He recently told me that the town center was as described above and that the land where La Plaza Grande and Spanish Springs is located was just farm land at that time. They are both in their early 80's now so in 1980 they were about 50.

ANOTHER person who deserves a BIG Trophy, IMHO....would be................... H. Gary Morse who arrived in 1983.... ( to help his dad--Harold Schwartz )...... and was the mastermind of this magnificent place we call The Villages.. And ..ALSO... to his children ( Mark Morse, Tracy Mathews and Jennifer Parr ) who now are the "movers and shakers" providing us with this place we call PARADISE. AND, let's prepare another, for the upcoming Fourth-generation ....which I hope will continue the family tradition.... THANK YOU to the entire MORSE family... :eclipsee_gold_cup::ho: ...for the VISION....Dedication .. and the hard work in providing the "FINEST" retirement community in the entire WORLD.
