In noodling around on my computer, I came across some caladium varieties that are (florida) bred for sunny spots. I'd like to plant these in the ground in my courtyard villa. (in the back.) Seems a nice, low maintenance alternative to flower beds.
Does anyone have personal experience with these varieties? Or caladiums in general? I'm a newbie at Florida gardening.

They are beautiful in S FL - handle the heat very well and add a variety of color depending on the variety. I intend to put some in when we get to TV! Enjoy!

Had some in a pot this spring near the front door, shady all day. Intermixed with some relative of Wandering Jew (tiny pink flowers on the ends of purple things. Both were doing great when I left May 1st - neighbor has the pot for the summer.
