Got a bug I want to identify. Is there an entomologist or extension office near The Villages?
Got a photo of the wee beastie, K9?

He's camera shy. Tee hee. Actually, too tiny to photography well.
I know about the office near Bushnell, I was just hoping for something closer.

Is it that scary orange one with the sticky-outs?
These bugs are pretty small....and are called American spider beetles. Their bodies are about the size of a pencil tip. Could this be what you've seen?

The nearest one I can think of is located at C.R.466 and Morse Blvd. On the Southwest corner. The Extension Agent is Jim Davis. He can be reached at 352-793-2728. Call first, he is usually at someones home helping with all sorts of problems. Leave a message......He WILL call you back within 24 business hours. He can also refer you to a plethora of other experts and publications. PLUS....he does NOT laugh about our stupid mistakes, ( at least not where we can hear him ). Put the critter (alive if possible ) in a Zip-Lock bag.....Then put the bag inside another zip-lock bag......and then.....and then......Put the "package" in the freezer.

Mr. Fixit - THANK YOU! I will contact him.
Pooh - no, it is pretty scary but that's not the bug.

Jim Davis is a great young man. We had a problem with our queen palms and he scheduled a time to come to our house and take a look. We had brought pictures in to show him what we were concerned about, but he still though he should see the problem first hand.
Great advice from Mr. Fixit!

Pooh, when I find out what our little bug is and I can get a photo, I'll share it with you. No matter how creepy. (yours was pretty creepy).

Thank you, I'd love to see the creature!
