In my need to stay current with events in TV, I've tried many times to watch the Daily Sun News show. But after a few minutes of Jessica Greene, I've got to quit. Her delivery of the news is absolutely horrible. It's a little bit her whiny voice and a whole lot that she seems like she speaking to children. Does anyone else find her hopelessly boring? God I wish she’d get promoted or find another career.

GeorgeNo, but I heard she got the gig because Olive Oyl wasn't available!

There is a classified ad in todays Daily Sun posting for a newsreader for VNN. Maybe they are looking for a replacement. Sever5al years ago VNN was a pretty good station. They had local Villagers doing receipe shows, craft shows, etc and was really very enjoyable. Now I very seldom turn to channel 2.

I presume that Ms. Greene would want to improve. Who wouldn't? And I'm sure that if she realized that her style was driving folks away from her broadcasts, then she would want to change. I know that I would.

A more positive thought is perhaps her supervisor/director could work with her to improve her presentation and delivery skills and to develop a better presence.

Or maybe we could collectively provide constructive observations first. It seems to me that being so harsh from the get-go is not very Villages-like of us.

As a 23+ year HR Director, I have found that effective training and supportive coaching usually equals better workplace performance.

It was not my intent to be harsh or cruel--just expressing my opinion about a local news broadcaster. On the other hand, you make a valid observation--Her boss is either asleep or simply doesn't care that the news broadcast is painfully boring. Coincidentally, I understand there's a vacancy in the paper today for a news announcer.

I don't know which one you are describing, but one young woman with long blond hair is the one I am referring to. She has a nasal sing song voice and (through no fault of hers), I cannot listen to her. I mentioned this to TV on the yearly things we would like to have in the Villages form. Sorry I am old and forgot the name of that form.

If you don't care for the news reader, perhaps you could change the channel. Or, apply for the job.
