We have not had time to make the drive down to TV in the past few weeks since we selected and purchased our lot in Sanibel. We now have our house on the market and are planning a trip down to TV next week for a few days. Just wondering if anyone knows if there has been any building activity going on in Sanibel thus far. I understand the model center there will open sometime around mid June.

Hi gadawg! We are in the same boat:wave: We're on Alee Lane and have been tempted to write our agent to see if any building has occurred. Also have our home on the market (13 days) and are hoping for the best. Thought of sprinkling our lot dirt (sent by our agent) around the for sale sign for luck. We're keeping St Joseph in the wings if things go longer than we expect! Good luck with your house sale, neighbor!:icon_wink:

I've seen a few homes finished, not sure if they're models or what. Also saw a number of signs indicating sold lots. Construction on the Fire Station, not sure what number, is coming along nicely.

I'm sure you're excited about your future here in TV. Congratulations on your purchase and the beginning of your life as a Villager!

Hey pzjay. Good luck on the sale of your house as well. I'm taking my GaPeach down to TV next week so we can see the lot. We're on Baker Ln and can hardly wait to get this house sold and start the building process asap. I am sure it will not be long and we will all be settling in to the new digs. I was through there the other day. The model center is the only section I saw building which is still off limits to vehicle traffic. The lots that were sold showed no activity yet. The mail station,pool, and country club as well as the firehouse are moving along quite nicely.

I was told...Walking or driving a motor vehicle or a golf car is NOT permitted unless you are accompanied by a sales agent ....who has PROOF they are a SALES AGENT.
Went through there today about 6ish....A pickup truck behind me gave out a "WHOOP-WHOOP-WHOOP" sound. In my rearview mirror, I could see flashing lights at the top of their windshield...INSIDE THEIR VEHICLE. Needless to say....I pulled over. The ( armed and fully uniformed ) officer explained that it COULD be considered a FELONY to even enter a construction zone in Florida. The very nice officer, after perusing my drivers license...registration..and insurance..had a "lookee-see" at what I had INSIDE my vehicle-----being satisfied that I had no ill intent let me go on my way. Dang it---I thought Sumpter County would at least have enough money to put Police decals on their vehicles. Do you suppose they are short of funds....that vehicle had NO markings at all. Must be that the officer decided that an OLDish looking VILLAGER... in a vehicle registered to a Villages address..AND ..containing no burglery tools ... nor any items that could be considered as suspect....WELL ...he must have figured I just could not read the signs that clearly stated---"Authorized Vehicles Only" ---because it would be obvious to anyone else that this was a construction area.

Well, there are signs to keep out, but that never stopped us when we were there! Maybe they're getting MEANER about it!:wave::wave::wave::crap2:

I was there last week.

At about 7pm, we drove into the development but were stopped by a TV staff guard at the entry gate . He stated that the area was open only from 6A to 6P.

I went back the next morning: the gate was not staffed; I drove around some of the area w/out problem or hassle. Other parts of the area were closed construction zones.

The undercover Sumter Co. deputy driving an unmarked truck who stopped mrfixit is there to prevent three primary situations:

1. theft! - no insinuation of anything personal against mrfixit :) - which is a serious issue for any contruction project but even more so in this economy. Construction sites provide a cache of valuables: contractor/subcontractor tools, equipment, supplies, wiring, irrigation heads, etc; while under-construction houses are wide-open, unsecured targets for items such as doors, tile, fixtures...
It is quick and easy opportunity for any villager or non-villager to grab some "stuff", toss it into a car trunk, a truck bed, or a van, and go.

2. injury to us "explorers"

3. damage to vehicles and tires by rolling over construction debris or running into whatever or driving over nails/screws

Why would you ignore "Keep Out", "No Trespassing" "Construction Vehicles Only" signs? Then be sarcastic when a policeman stops you?

It seems to me to be pretty clear that you aren't suppose to be in there. I don't understand.

Hope our house here sells, so we can start our lives in Sanibel (French Oak Avenue). I hope to be purchasing one or two from you!!!!

I saw the models in Sanibel yesterday. Our salesman Tony Trussler must of called all of his customers past and present and we met at the Bacall Rec Center and filled two trolleys and went to see the models.

We've been in our new villa since July 5th and I asked why are you calling us, but I guess they figure we might know others, or maybe hit the lottery and maybe want to move up someday. Anyway, there was about 7 homes I believe on a street called Braddley.

I think 2 or 3 had pools, with beautiful furniture I guess from Southern Lifestyles. One thing I noticed was all the masters had a tray ceiling, and the m/baths had a walk in shower, very nice and big and no door to deal with. I didn't find out the price but I would say they all had to be in the upper two's to upper three's. Most had golf cart garage, wood or tile floors, upgraded appliances, 3 door sliders that collapsed into one, open kitchens with bar islands.
