Boobear and I are wondering how long we can expect a golf car (new) to last. We have a tendency to drive our vehicles until they have to be dragged off. 250,000 to 300,000 miles is about normal for us.
We take reasonable care of our cars and don't usually abuse them but we have no experience with golf carts so we don't know what to expect.

I don't know for sure, but they are much easier to replace major components and keep running for a long time then most cars. At some point it is probably cheaper to buy another vs re-build, but don't know where that point happens. I know of a few 1999 carts that are still going strong. I have a 2002 Club Car electric and a 2004 gas Yamaha that I use all the time with no problems. A new cart I would expect good service from for 10 years. I have put a new motor in the electric last year, but that was $500 and I expect another 3 or 4 trouble free years from it.

A golf car will last forever given proper care and having it professionally serviced. The only thing I see is it will be out dated with newer technology, at which point you would want to get rid of it.

We have a 1996 Yamaha Gas that runs great. It was repainted and new seat covers and sunbrella installed about 5 years ago.
