View Full Version : Will give lot back

Our home has not sold and we will give back our lot to be re-released in The Villages. We will not lose our funds thank goodness, but our hearts were set on our new lot with a brand new home.

The housing market has become very soft here in California, but we are staying positive about selling our home and getting to The Villages. I'm trusting that the twist and turns of getting to The Villages is simply a mild detour.

One thing I do know, we are not alone on this journey. Thank you for sharing your joy and pain in getting to The Villages. Sometimes I get so darn disappointed and then I read one of your posts, you are going through the same darn thing in Virginia, Tennessee, Minnesota or New York. We are just trying to get to The Villages so we can all play and be happy:pepper2:! I've given up explaining to Californians why we want to live in TV, I want to keep The Village life a secret.

I'm staying positive about the sell of our home and I wish all of you who are trying to sell your home the best too.

Once again, thank you for all of your posts.:gc:

Where's your lot? We're visiting TV on June 28 and plan to buy a new designer home. Would be interesting to see location of your lot.

Thanks,

I am sorry to hear about your lot, but, am glad to hear you will not lose your funds. I hope your house sells soon; there is probably another lot just as nice with your name on it. I truly hope it works out for you.

That lot was not the one you were supposed to have; when the time is right the perfect lot or home will appear. While we were waiting for our home to sell I would get anxious about the homes I picked out selling and then when I least expected it :boom: our home sold. Here we are in the perfect house with the perfect neighbors. It won't be long and you will be rolling along :gc:.

Jhooman, my thoughts and prayers are with you that your house sells soon.

As Duffysmom said, the lot and home you were meant to have in TV are waiting for you. Your dream is alive and well and it will come true!

Thank you for your kind note.

I'm so sorry! My response did not come out the way I meant it to. When I read your post, I was on the phone with our Village realtor trying to locate a lot. We just sold our house after being on the market for almost a year. I know how stressful your situation must be. Please forgive my insensitivity.

I am sure this will workout for you. After 9 months we have a closing here in RI. This has been a stressful time and I will not relax until it has closed. Best of luck to you and hang in there.

Thank goodness you got your money back Jhooman. The housing market has to turn around sometime. Just because you got out of buying now doesn't mean you have to give up your dream of coming to paradise. Keep your chin up and keep posting here and making friends. Just because you have to postpone building your home here doesn't mean you can't visit. Your day will come. I'm hoping it is sooner than later! Best wishes and don't give up.

We went through the same thing for seven months. Seemed like there was just no one out there that wanted our house and 5 acres in eastern NC! We buried the St. Joseph in the yard but that was only for laughs. We had about given up when a couple called and came by the first of March to look, loved it, made an offer and we were "outta there" by mid April! It was very stressful having to move so quick after being in the house for 20 years but well worth it getting to TV as FROGS!:pepper2:

Best of luck to you! Don't worry about that lot as there are plenty of others!!

I'm in Atlanta, one of the 5 worst housing markets in the country, so says my 4th realtor--my house has been on the market now for over 2 years. I've had over 30 agents tour my home. Almost all of them say my home is in a great location, "shows perfectly", is exceptionally well maintained and, worth every bit of what it's been appraised for. But, it's not sold. I'm starting to think too that there's a right time, right place, and right buyer and all of it will come together when it's meant to. What I can do, is make sure my vote is cast in November 2012 for a federal administration with sound fiscal policies. If anyone really wants a chilling understanding of why we're in this crisis, I highly recommend watching "Inside Job". It's a totally riveting 90 minutes. It starts out tame and seemingly innocuous, but soon the reality of how we got to where we are today becomes nearly too incredible to grasp.

I agree with duffysmom - when the time is right, the right lot or right home will be here for you.

I do have to admit, though, that when I saw where you are from I got homesick...I moved here from Long Beach (Belmont Shore) and miss it every day! Not enough to go back, though :)

Jhoorman:

I am very sorry to hear of your disappointment in not being able to sell your home.

I find that trying to sell a home or condo is like a roller coaster ride. One minute, your hopeful that it will sell and the next minute, one's hopes are dashed.

I'm trying to adapt the sports cliche in that one does not get too high and don't get too low. I recently almost had a couple of offers that I felt they weren't going to be realized and try not to get too low when no one is coming around for showings.

There's a time and place for everything that happens. Our day will come. :)

Best wishes for selling your home.

Jeanette,

I want to remind you that you promised that you and your husband would try and get me to go out and play golf at TV.

Although you're unlikely to succeed in getting me to do so, I fully expect you to keep your promise and try. No excuses! So that means that you MUST sell your LB,C home, you MUST get yourself to and settled into TV and you MUST make your attempt to get me out on the links! You HEAR ME JEANETTE, YOU LISTENING???

Seriously, best luck on selling your home. I'll remain positive that it WILL sell because it's not a matter of if, but rather a matter of when! When's coming Jeanette... when's coming, and when it does.......

After posting, the support, kind words and stories of how others finally got to TV has filled up my well. Sometimes the day to day of selling a home can be grueling. Not anymore, I'm focused on being in The Villages.

Have a wonderful Fathers day, your the best.

Looking forward to when we finally meet face to face... :highfive:

To my CA friends, I too miss CA but never enough to go back for good. @Jhooman, when one door closes, another opens and its usually for the better. I went through 3 potential sales here in TV while still living in CA and lost them all but when the time was right, I got one better than all the others and the timing was perfect.... please don't fret, we'll see you soon and I'll help you get Skyguy on the links... Good luck and keep the faith!!

There are ten thousand lots that will become available J.

Feel this hug. I KNOW you are disappointed....but...

There are interior and view lots and end lots and there is an even prettier one for you, I feel it in my heart. AND ....someone else may have to give up their lot for any number of reasons and that lot might be your home lot now....

And reading Kathy's post, I felt that her inclination was to help you, thinking that you needed to sell it or something.

I am so sorry for you, and I know you feel so frustrated.

Hi Jhooman,

We are in the same "boat" like you! My husband has been retired for a year now and I'm waiting for our house to sell. (Someone will die in our house if we are both home). Little did we know how bad the housing market is!!!! July 15 is the date we have to give back our lot also.....makes me sad. So far we had six showing and no offers!!!!

You mentioned earlier that you would not lose your money. I was told that we would definitely lose our money if we didn't start building within 1 year of buying the lot. Our agent told us they will put our deposit in a non-interest escrow account. When we do sale we can put that money on another lot or on a house The Villages are selling.
Hopefully someone will come out of the woodwork and buy our home in Pa.

Zoomie, your story touches my heart too girl! Hope things work out for you real soon. From what I read there are lots of people in the same boat. :sigh:

It is getting closer to time when we will be trying to sell and make our move to TV and I am already worried about what the housing market will be like when that time comes.

I sure wish it were possible to choose a lot and hold it for longer than a year...I'd buy a lot tomorrow if it were! I can see their reasoning for not allowing it, though.

Good luck to you!

After visiting TV 16 months ago our agent called to see how we are doing.
Some small talk and I asked what happens to your lot deposit if you cannot build after the year is up. Although contractually you're are out the deposit, TV will hold your money. But it is used when you close on your house. Cannot be used for another deposit on a lot. Cannot be used for 20 % deposit when you start the build. Only used as credit when closing.

Anyone experience a different scenario?
