There are so many Villages to choose from, why did you pick the Village that you have chosen to be home...And why have so many people that live in the Villages have already moved 2-3 times within the Village.

People often move because their needs changed, we changed from part-timers to full timers and needed more room for stuff. Others move to downsize.

Researched for months, made 2 lifestyle visits, looked at 10 or more homes a day, knocked on doors, questioned everybody i met, used both a Village sales rep, and an outside Realtor, and drove them both crazy.Purchased a pre-owned home large enough that i would never have to move again, with incredible landscaping, and close to LSL.Got an extra bonus with terrific neighbors that really care about their property, and treat us as family. Only complaint............"I WISH IT WOULD RAIN."

We came down on a Lifestyle Preview Visit after seeing the commercial and ordering the DVD. We bought before the six day visit was over. Before our visit, I looked on the Internet for anything I could find about TV. I'd never heard of it before the commericial and the DVD.
I discovered this forum before our first visit. I learned more, and continue to learn, from ToTV than I did during the six day visit. We knew we didn't want to have a bond and we wanted to be on the historic side with larger lots with the mature landscaping and more of a rolling terrain. We used an agent through The Villages, an outside agent and went on our own exploring. We looked at about 40 houses.
We wanted a house without any neighbors behind us or in front of us. Every realtor we went with said it would be very difficult to find a house without neighbors in front or behind. The last house we looked at was on the second hole of the Orange Blossom Country Club Golf Course. No neighbors behind and a little park in front on a cul-de-sac.
We looked at the house and knew it was our home. We made an offer and came back in less than 30 days for the closing. One of the best decisions we have ever made.

People at our stage in life often have changing needs. I know singles that have married and need larger homes. And married couples that have lost a mate and need a smaller home.
We moved from a two-bedroom CYV to get a third bedroom and a huge garage. We moved from Belvedere Village to Belvedere Village ... that is how much we love the location.

After 2nd visit, looked at Pre-owned home listing, after eliminating town-homes around SS Square, and discovered the Village of LaZamora with many many trees, perfect home and the best neighbors you will ever find BUT I'll betcha EVERYONE will say that about their Village because its TRUE!
We moved to Bonnybrook because we wanted to be near all the action. We are close to Sumter and to Spanish Springs. Shopping, doctors, the library are all close by and everything is literally only 5 to 10 minutes away. I believe the area around 466A will become more desireable as the buildout reaches that area. My feeling is that presently that area is just too far out for me. I wanted instant gratification and Bonnybrook, Tall Trees, Winifred area best suited my needs.

When you refer to "town-homes", do you mean a particular style of home or houses with 5-10 minutes from SS Square. And did you know your neighbors before you moved there ?

I call them town homes, th Villages calls them Villas, they are as close as you can get to the Square, very nice floor-plan, they run between, $325,000 and $600,000, and have HOA's.....Did not know neighbors b4 and like I said just "dumb luck"...LaZamora is very convenient and NO bond because it is in Lake County. Homes sell very quickly here, only 2 or three available now.

Picked Buttonwood because that is where the dirt was when we bought. We wanted new with room to build a large cage and pool. Found it in Buttonwood and we are very happy with our decision. Move down to be frogs early 2012.

We bought in Buttonwood for a number of reasons.
First, it was a great deal for the CYV we had been looking for over a year. Secondly, We love the location. It is away from the main streets, quiet, and still half way between LSL and Brownwood. We love the neighbors also. They were all very friendly and they actually made our decision easier.

Ditto, except I didn't buy in LaZamora. But I am quite content where I am.
BTW, LaZamora is a very pretty village.

Does 466 have a cart path you use to get to LSL?

After visiting TV for 3 years and looking at many homes, we decided to buy in the historical section because of the large lots, mature landscaping, the close proximity to shopping, restaurants and SS, the reasonable prices, and the quiet (we're at the end of the line so no through traffic). I wanted a water view and a large lot at a reasonable price as we are not full time residents. We love the historical side;-)

Ms. Kathy:
What section, did you purchase in the historical side. And how long, does it take, by cart to arrive at SS.
Thanks and have a great week, Randy

We bought a new manufactured home in Orange Blossom Gardens. It takes us 5 minutes by cart or bicycle to get to Spanish Springs. Very convenient for shopping and restaurants.

As we would be snowbirds for several years, we were looking for a two-bedroom, turnkey. Preferred north side for the mature landscaping, houses further apart and proximity to our favorite championship courses. Preferred an east-facing lanai to avoid afternoon sun. Found just what we were looking for in Springdale.

Hemingway,
we bought new and that's where they were building.
Neighbors are the best, everyone's friendly and watches out for each other.
I also think it's in the center of TV, love using Canal St.
I'd bet everyone likes theirs best!.. John

wish they did, when they were building the wide sidewalk, all of us were "Hoping and Praying", BUT, not so.....We go by Delmar to Rio Grande to Morse to LSL, really not a bad ride!...
BTW We also have a couple of golf ranges real close if you are a golfer, one for street legals, and the Lions range has a trail from Valla Verde (sp?) for all other carts.

JohnJohn, Hemingway is not in the center of TV. It's off Morse on your right just before you reach 466a. We directly adjacent on the left side in Hadley. You are at the southern most end of TV... up until the recent start in developing south of 466a. Not all that far away from LSL though and will be closer to the new Brownwood Paddack Square (once built) than most residents of TV!

The bottom line is everybody has a budget they must live by.The Villages encompass every price range from under $100,000 to over $1,000,000.Figure out what you can afford and go for it, the lifestyle cannot be duplicated anywhere in the U.S.A.:eclipsee_gold_cup:
I like Amelia for convenience - about 2 miles - 7 minutes by cart to Colony with Publix and bank and likely major expansion with the growth south of 466a. Also about 2 miles to LSL - the square, Sweet Bay etc. Also we have hills with a beautiful view as you enter the village.

we are also snowbirds who bought on the historic side because of the lot size and landscaping; BUT MOST OF ALL for the calm nature of the area. we have no main arteries within the enclave so we have no traffic! the home we bought fit in with our real estate purchase plan and it is just around the corner from the adult pool with hot tub and late hours.
the homes on the historic side give us a sense of the neighborhoods where we were raised and live up north...as similar as the buildings are they all seem different because of the personalization that has occured over the years. we find that negotiating the golf cart bridge is no worse or better than negotiating the morse blvd bridge to get to lake sumter landing...and it is soooooo very convenient to shopping, restaurants and ss town square!
must say, however, that we don't think there is a bad village in the villages! we have friends and acquaintences in many of them and enjoy travelling among them. and even as "visitors" to their homes, we have met our friends neighbors and have almost as much fun with them as with our friends and our historic side neighbors.
oh, and may i add that the geographic size of the historic side makes weekend yardsailing there a breeze!...best done in the golf cart with a later on return to any home where car size items were purchased! ;)

How many Villages on the historic north side are mobile home parks?
It began as a mobile home park 40 years ago. But now there are many lovely site-built homes interspersed with the mobile homes. My friends just bought a brand-new double-wide mobile home in Historic with a fabulous lot on a lake. Very good value there!

How many Villages on the historic north side are mobile home parks?
there are 3 villages: silver lake, orange blossom gardens and country club hills; not much looks like a mobile home any longer - manufactured, modular and site built pretty much reign there now.

We picked Summerhill because it is the most convenient to every store we want to be near. Also, there is only one way in and one way out by car.

Just FYI NorthStar - There are rec centers everywhere in TV. Summerhill is very close to the restaurants and stores on 466. 5 min or so.

If you want new, you build in the village that is being built. ...for the most part. At this time it is Sanibel and Tamarind Grove and St. James, but there are still lots in Buttonwood and Pennecamp and St. Charles.
If you want a resale than you have a much broader choice. AND people have improved almost every resale so you get a little more bang for your buck.
There aren't groups of say...Ohioans or New Yorkers living all in one area..and there are not older or younger people living in one area... and the prices for the same model with the same view or lack of it are about the same all over TV...new or used.
