I was disturbed by an ad in today's (6/23) Daily Sun claiming that a cure has been found by researchers at the University of California/Irvine. The claim is not true and the ad could give false hope to Villagers directly impacted by the disease. While improvements were found in the brains of mice given the substance, research on humans has not yet been reported. Here's a link to the report: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_7396/is_329/ai_n56436069/
While advertisers are ultimately responsible for the content of ads, I would have hoped that someone in the ad department of the paper would have said: "Whoa, should we be promoting such an unproven and false claim?"
Boy, snake-oil people love to get into the wallets of seniors.
Am I alone on this?
