Recently while visiting TV noticed someone in the pool had made a floating pool chair out of pool noodles & zip ties. I can't remember how they did it.
Does anyone in TV land know how? Please post instructions Thanks-barb

Hey Barb,

This is how I put mine together.

Materials:
2 small noodles - $1.88 each at Walmart or $1.99 at Publix
3 cable ties (14 1/2") - purchased at Ace Hardware
1 roll of colored duct tape - purchased at Ace Hardware

1. Take the first noodle and fold it in half.
2. Take the second noodle and bend in a U shape and insert in the middle of the first noodle.
3. Secure the first noodle, so that it remains folded, at each end. with the cable ties.
4. Snip off the excess cable tie material
5. I wrapped over the cable ties with blue duct tape, to match the color of the noodle, so that no one would scratch themselves on the cable tie joint.

Good Luck........Jim

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the instructions. They worked. Used the pool chair today at Lake Arrowhead pool in Wisconsin. Trying to sell our home in Wis. so that we can move to TV. People in our pool wanted to know how to make one after they saw mine. Thanks Again, Barb

Gee I guess they must be out enjoying the day in their noodle chairs. To get an idea of how it should look just google pool noodle chairs and you will see how the ones you can buy look. It sure helped me to understand how to make my own. I live in NC and you can buy noodles at the Dollar Tree around here.

Good job with the picture, twotogo!

That's exactly how ours look as well. As jim1941 had suggested, do something with the ends of the zip-tie connections. He chose duct tape for protecting his. I simply snipped the ends off ours "down to the nub" with a utility knife and positioned them such that I don't think they'll be an issue. So far, so good! If they start posing a problem for us, I'll probably try dabbing a blob of silicone sealer on the connections - or maybe some "liquid electrical tape". Ex.: http://www.plastidip.com/home_solutions/Liquid_Tape_-_Electrical_Insulation

I'd have posted a picture of our "noodle concoctions"..............except we won't be back to TV til later this fall, which is where the noodles reside. Sniffle............

Now I know what all those things were on the back of everybody's golf cars. How do you sit/use them?

After snipping off the excess zip-tie material, I smooth the sharp edge with a nail file or sandpaper. That minimizes the chance of getting scratched.

Can you just buy a noodle chair? Or is that against the rules?

Are the mesh chairs that hook to a noodle allowed? See http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=en&xhr=t&q=noodle+chair&cp=9&qe=bm9vZGxlIGNo&qesig=5Ht4MyOI9DDj3OL59qX5gA&pkc=AFgZ2tnth8uA-Nlk0_Sr-yx0NuWJsCnb7W1cGt9p-gJrV53ZQlgXhtoY1sSL8zn3akccQUkQjVZ9U_IbXfJiyB8i6EN aSIpWng&newwindow=1&safe=off&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&biw=1584&bih=733&wrapid=tljp1312118370287016&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=12235791723948156389&sa=X&ei=ZlY1TvWmKaPmsQLfpOibCw&sqi=2&ved=0CHIQ8wIwAA#

Per the VCDD Recreation Pool guidelines:

- Family pools - "Noodles, unbreakable masks, goggles, and small plastic buckets are the only items allowed in the pool. ........ Approved lifevests are permitted. Infant and toddler flotation devices are allowed with adult supervision."

- Neighborhood (adult) pools - "Noodles, unbreakable masks, and goggles are the only items allowed in the pool."

The above is from p. 3: http://www.thevillagesdailysun.com/app/files/recnews.pdf

I'd think anything comprised of just noodles would pass muster.

This is awesome! We have always had above ground pools (http://www.kayakpoolsmidwest.com/), and the kids are always wanting to 1) make something and 2) get new rafts. We all know that traditional rafts are pretty expensive, but from the above post we can all see that this is cheap! What a great idea...I would have never thought to make my own!
