We are renting our villa out for Jan-Feb. and our renters have asked about forwarding their mail. Our other renters never asked so I don't know what to tell our new renters. Can anyone help me with this. What options are there?
Thanks

Your renters should fill out a temporary forwarding notice with their back-home post office to have their mail sent from their home to your villa. It probably wouldn't hurt for you to let your post office know that you'll be receiving their mail at your villa for the specified timeframe. This will only forward first class mail, I believe.
Another option: Your renters could ask one of their neighbors back home to bundle up all their mail every so often, stuff it in an Express Mail envelope/box (that they would have bought for them, of course! :) ), and send it to your villa address. This method would ensure that they'd get to see ALL their mail.

for a 2 month period? Can they use any post office address? Fruitland is closer than Lady Lake so it would be easier for them to use that address. We didn't want to open our box til we got down in March in order to avoid mail mix up. Any more options?
Thanks

Hubby and I are renting for five weeks beginning the end of this month and the home owner has given us the address so we can recieve mail. Should we still inform the post office there of this? I figured if we do a change of address with our local post office here to the rental, our mail would just be delivered there. We are renting until we find a house in TV.

We rented last December and the rental agent of the house we rented told us to just go ahead and have our mail forwarded to the Villages address. Instead we had our next door neighbors get our mail for the whole month. During that time, our neighbor sent us a christmas card with our name on it to that address and the christmas card was returned too them as "undeliverable".
Just thought I would share.

LW, you can check with the post office of your choice to see what options they offer. Here in OH, I believe the minimum length of time for renting a p.o. box is 6 months - it might differ down there. They might also have the option of having mail sent (via their neighbors back home) to "General Delivery" in care of the renter's name with just the city, state, and zip of the post office noted. The post office would receive it and hold it for them. They'd have to provide I.D. at time of pick up.

We have a small town post office address and I know the postmaster personally. He told us when we were in TV for the month of April, that forwarding for a short period, and then unforwarding (is there such a word?) may well cause problems. He offered to sell me three prepaid packets and they would bundle the mail and send to us at the renters address on three dates we chose. They are not supposed to do that, but that is the kind of service you still get in a small town! Having the neighbor do it would be equally effective and probably the preferred way to go.

Village Pack and ship has Box's that you can rent and have the mail forwarded to that address. That is what we did when we rented for 3 months.
