while the Republicans act like petulant children. Obama is willing to cut trillions of dollars from government spending, including reductions in entitlement programs, sacred cows for Democrats. Republicans dig their heels in and won't budge on tax increases for the wealthiest 1-2 percent, justifying their resistance by claiming you don't tax the job creators. That is such BS. If we've learned one thing it's that trickle down doesn't work. If we just returned to the tax rates for the wealthy that were in effect under Clinton, it would, when combined with the spending cuts proposed by the president, solve our long term budget issues.

it does not matter wether they want to pay more or not. Pass the legislation and the rich pay more. And by the way what does it matter if they want to pay or not?

Why is there never ever any intelligent commentary, here, at the WH, in the media or anywhere about the 50% of Americans that pay no taxes?
How about corps like GE that pay no taxes?
How about the many, many other corps both domestic and foreign that pay no taxes?
How about a reduced rate on the profits earned by American companies off shore? As it stands now because of the tax rate they keep the money outside the USA.

All this political/partisan crap about the less than 1% rich and what they do or don't do accomplishes nothing.

Doing any of the above would constitute doing what is right. And we all know where that stands in the eyes of politicians and their partisan lemmings.

Geithner can cut other federal spending to avoid a default but won't because Obama is using this debit limit debate as leverage for his push for an entitlment state which is at 25% of GDP and they want finances to make that permanent. Obama has repeatedly shown he can't be trusted. His goal is to damage Republicans and slow down their push for 2012.

I believe Mitch McConnell is correct. Leave Obama to his own devices and let him own his mistakes. That is certainly one way to get him off this kick of blaming Bush

Because no matter how you slice it Obama will get his way because Republican have only control of the House and odds are that many Repubicans will back down with these predictable scare tactics by Obama of Grandma losing er social security checks, etc. Now does that sound likme Obama is behaving like an adult.

In a very critical time in American history when we needed a talented inspirational and gifted statesman and leader we vote in this---------------

to cut entitlements, both Social Security and Medicare . Do you even bother to read about these negotiations, or do you just continue to blather on without a hint of real understanding of what is going on?

President Obama is not today nor has he ever acted in a responsible manner when it came to the budget. He has not put forth a budget unlike the Republicans who did so months ago. He talks of cuts but offers no specifics.

Similarly, there were no budget for the last two budget years when Obama had full control of the House and Senate. If failing to live up to the responsibilities of your office, then Obama is doing a bang-up job. Being an adult requires bringing specific budget proposals to the table, something Obama had never done and his dutiful Dumbocrats will willing follow him off a cliff rather than open their eyes look at what has and is happening.

Actor; In all due respect Obama from his inception has said he would do a lot of things. He has gone back on his word than any president in my lifetime. Sorry but you have to watch what he does and not what he says.
