We are thinking of building in Sanibel (new development south of 466A). Are there any negatives to moving that far south? Is it too far out in the boonies or doesn't that matter much when you're retired and have time to spare?

I don't see it as a bad location. 20 minutes to LSL, 20-25 minutes to Brownwood in a couple of years and 5 minutes to Colony shopping and dining.

We have been here as a snowbird for three years and just sold our ny home.
We signed a contract on a home to be built in Sanibel and have a closing date of 10/4.

We chose Sanibel , the new development south of 466a because it will be about half way between Brownwood and Sumter landing. It is close to Colony Plaza and near plenty of golf including the new golf academy. It is also very close to the new golf training center.

466a will not be as commercial as 466. Golf courses on both sides of the road all through the villages. The land is flat for bikes and walking. Its all good

I thought the same thing when I moved to Buttonwood. Buy a gas cart and don't worry about distance. With Brownwood, Lake Sumpter Landing, Colony, and no telling what will be built on SR44 you'll not be in the boondocks.

My thoughts are that you should choose a home based on what activities you will be doing. For example, both my husband and I are golfers. It was important to us to be in a location where we could play all executive and championship courses available to us. Living below 466a would not work for us. If you are interesting in joining the MVP gym in Spanish Springs, you may find the distance to it a bit much. Other than that, I think all other activities are central enough that it doesn't matter where you live.

Bonify will be the premier championship course in the villages and there will be 2 more Championship and 6 executive south of 466a w/n 3/5 years. The other activities will also be there. In the mean time you can use the facilities north of 466a in minutes. After all some of the fun is getting there.Aren't we retired?

I agree with Zummy! We have bought a lot in Sanibel, and everytime we go there, we find more things we like about the setup there. I think it is going to be beautiful there and it will end up being very centrally located. I can't wait to be there full time and be able to drive my golf cart all over. Finally we will have time to enjoy the ride! :D

I ditto Sky and Zummy. We bought a lot in Sanibel and will complete our house in August. Level land and equal distance from LSL and Brownwood was the kicker for us. Bought the lot sight unseen! The future of TV looks bright below 466A from our vantage point.

We were told Location, location, location when we were looking to move to TV... So be bought in Sanibel! It has the golf courses, I can see one of the rec centers from my house, I'm close the the Bonifay Country Club, the neighborhood pool is right down the street, I can buy fresh food every day if I want because I'm that close to the grocery store and I'm right in between two town squares! *sigh* I felt like I lucked out in getting in!

Oh... and I almost forgot the BEST part! I have the GREATEST neighbors you could ask for! We've all gotten to know each other on TOTV and trust me, I couldn't have hand picked them any better then this!

Sanibel is a fine location, for all the reasons above.
sure beats Morse and Rio Grande!
