Just saw the Lady Lake weather report at the bottom of the TOTV page:
90 feels like 103
Here in Norcal the weather report is:
87 feels like 86
With those numbers it is kinda hard thinking of spending the summer with those brave souls in TV.
.
It's actually a few degrees cooler and it's raining right now....though it's still humid.
We moved from southern CA and believe me, getting adjusted to the higher humidity wasn't the easiest thing, but we've adapted in our own ways. First person we met while visiting our first time was from a town about 15 miles from our home. I asked how he did with the higher humidity....."I just take lots of showers, " was his answer. It's almost August....just a couple of months of heat, then more moderate temps and then....ahhhhh, wonderful weather....:D

The Mrs. and I played twilight golf at Palmer at 5:00. It was around 97 and we had a few clouds. Hey, for $6 you can stand a little heat.:gc:

Just as hot and sometimes hotter here in Indiana and we have humidity here too....soooo I am sure the heat and humidity lasts longer in TV but really may be an improvement on some days and as they say you don't have to shovel it ;)

Hell, that ain't nothin:cold: We had 102 with 114 feel like yesterday and I played 18 holes here in Northwest Missouri. In fact, we have had over 100 heat index for about two weeks now, and predicted to continue for another week.

Chicago had 2 consecutive days of 99 degree high temps. (at O'Hare Airport) this past week, which is unusual (some areas in Chicago were above 100 degrees). I was in TV 2 week ago. Yes, it was hot. But come January when I will be scraping ice off of my car's windshield, I will be wishing mightily to be in TV.

DO NOT believe everything you read. It is now 0030 hours and the Lady Lake weather report at bottom of page says it is Currently 82 and feels like 104. ( it feels like a nice and balmy 92 ) Guess I won't be getting get up EARLY to shovel the snow off the driveway.

Wow, you are correct. I'm going in for new glasses ASAP. P.S. The Villages lawn is wet, the windows are covered with "dew", the air is dead still.(BUT it is NOT raining) Gonna be a little warmer Monday. Oh the joys of summer. Some "family" headed up to Michigan's Upper Peninsula last week ( from Vero Beach)--for about six weeks of what is best described as "talkin' dirty and tellin' lies while livin' off the land"...said they had 2 empty seats in the "Clark Griswold-mobile" (a diesel pusher) and "a spare cabin" on the lake for us. Complete with fishin gear, boats, beer, booze, brats and fresh farm-raised beef. They even have several 2-holers just "steps" from the cabins. We didn't go with them. Coulda...woulda..shoulda....what the heck wuz we thinkin'?.

Does this new "95 degrees but feels like 104 degrees" bother anyone else? The weather people in the North have made "wind chill" a staple in their winter weather reports, and scientists have published reports on the inaccuracies in the wind chill charts for years. But the "experts" keep referring to those same charts. How about when it's 95 degrees we just say it's 95 degrees?

We had hot weather with temps at or near 100 degrees with high humidity here in NY State late last week, which is not unusual in July. It doesn't last long. Today it's rainy with temps in the 70s. It's supposed to warm up to the eighties this week.
That's why snowbirding works for us. As a kid we spent a lot of time in central Florida during the summer and it's not for me. We had a lot of relatives there (still do) and I hated it when my folks said we were heading south. That's at a time when we lived in southern Alabama. The Florida humidity was something else.

I doubt that the Florida weathermen lie about the temperature. One can always look at other national sources (weather.com, national weather service etc.) for temps to double check them. My guess is they'd be the same.

The Lady Lake weather report at the bottom of the page says 90 feels like 114 (at 1304 hrs). How can the "feel" be 24 degrees higher?
The Weather Channel at 1151 hrs has it as 90 feels like 96 but that's an hour earlier than the report at the bottom of TOTV.

This is not a lighthearted question but a serious one........with regard to the heat and humidity and living in The Villages all summer long.
Has anyone ever been told by their cardiologist that when the combined temperature and humidity reach, say a level of 150%, it is dangerous for them to be out and about or exert in any way outdoors? We have two relatives who were told something like that by their doctors..........now wouldn't the humidity always be 100% in Florida???? So, combined with a summer temperature, it would appear they can never venture out unless in an air conditoned car into an air conditioned building. Would appreciate any info from those who have been told this by their docs. Thanks in advance. p.s. What about people with artificial heart valves or circulatory problems???
Humidity isn't always 100% in Fla - weather channel has it as 55% at 1151 hrs. It varies throughout the day.
Dewpoint is the number to watch. When it is 72 or higher it gets progressively more uncomfortable. The humidity can be near 100% and the dewpoint could be around 70 and it would be bearable outside.

We miss Pleasanton, warm but cool evenings at least. First summer stay for us, but we are enjoying ourselves anyway. No lines.

A warm summer day in Pleasanton is usually around 104 (feels like 104); 10 miles further West and on the other side of the East Bay Hills it's 85 (feels like 85). I lived 10 miles West of Pleasanton for 35 years and only went near there in the summer many days to work.
