Sen. Marco Rubio splendid speech on the budget talks.

Over and over it is proven to me that the state of Florida got it right with the election of our outstanding Senator Marco Rubio in the last election. He a brilliant young man who can think on his feet and is steadfast in his beliefs. This legislator is going to go far in this world.

If I'm a little less enthusiastic than you, it has nothing to do with Rubio personally or the ideals he says he holds important. I listened to his speech with interest and I will watch his performance as a Senator with interest. My hesitancy to get too excited about him right now is the pattern I've seen too often among those we send to Washington. As youthful legislators they have strong beliefs and express them well. But the longer they stay in Washington and get sucked into the system the less coherent they become, the less consistent their conduct matches their rhetoric.

I can remember another young Senator who gave mesmerizing speeches, who caused pride and emotion to well among people who became his supporters. Not long afterwards, after considerable electoral success, like many of his predecessors he too seems to be caught in the paralyzing bucket of muck called the U.S. government.

I'll keep high hopes for our new young Senator. But before I get too excited, I think I'll watch...and hope.

Of course you're right in that time will tell if my expectations for this, so far, outstanding young legislator will bear fruit. I'm usually a pessimist at heart, but I'm so hungry for the real deal that sometimes I can't help myself.

The difference between this senator and the one you're referencing, is that I know this senator stands for all that made America great and is trying to reclaim that America, and not trying to transform it into something we won't recognize.

Thanks Richie: I have been following Marco since my arrival in Florida circa 2006.

I have heard that he is being considered for the VP slot on the Republican side. Despite his neophte status in the House, I would consider him as a presidential candidate following closley his positions on various issues. He is a sincere and serious individual who has a logical and beneficial approach to solving this country's problems. However, I can see where some may find his limited tenure a oint to argue. Perhaps that minus can be turned into a plus. VK believes that with time Marco will become one of them Suppose he runs for president now. would that mean he would not have time to marinate in the lower chambers and hence forego being thought of as brain washed by the system?

This video link provides another great example of the potential of this exceptional young legislator. He speaks in a no nonsense way and you don't have to interpret what he's saying. He's clear and concise. Those are good attributes for a servant of the people.
