I searched the forum and saw some previous gripes about this, but they were a few years old, so I thought I'd mention it anew.
BLINDING headlights on some ninny's golf car really pushed my buttons tonight!
It was downright dangerous to others... we were in the square with lots of traffic and people were actually GROANING out loud at this meatball!
I'm sure people have their reasons for being totally obnoxious and using these, but if I was the queen, they would be forbidden!
:spoken:
(otherwise, I'm happy as a lark!)

Uptown, here's a post from this past March on topic of golf cart headlights:
https://www.talkofthevillages.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37290
Was the situation you're referencing from this evening a matter of mis-adjusted headlights or did the headlights simply seem too bright?
Thanks!
Bill :)

Well everyone should see that their headlights are alligned properly.what i would say to you queenie is "do not continue to stare directly into the beam of such bright headlights." That serves no purpose. Well i guess it does. It makes certain that the headlights do blind you.

Thanks for that thread... I missed finding that one, but it hits the nail on the head and is very well written. The headlights were not adjusted as others are and in addition were the brightest halogen. The guy turned the corner and headed straight at us..... there was NO place to divert your eyes... even people on foot were squinting. I'm no expert, but I would say these were not installed by your typical cart place.
I attempted to inject a little humor in my original post. I don't really want to be the queen, guys. I don't look good in a tiara.

I appreciated the humor, Queen Uptown Girl, and understood your intended intonation and connotation.
I see no need for you to explain your comment, your majesty, at least not to this guy.
Please continue to reign with benevolence and insight.

Thank you for your post, and the opportunity to clarify: I inferred that Uptown Girl became a little defensive from comments in one or two threads that followed her original post.
I was attempting to assure her that she didn't need to defend herself for her innocuous "if I was queen" comment, which I took as a benign twist on the Tears for Fears song/lyrics, "Everybody wants to rule the world".

Wan't that a song? Blinded by the light Dressed up as a---
Goddess of the Village gets blinded by the Alien Golf Cart Landing Lights! What a story.
Now is Goddess above or below Queen?
Anyway
It's a terrible thing those new Halogen lights that could land a 747 in a blizzard can blind ya quick.

I think it is a shame, and really poor design, that most golf carts do not have an easy way to adjust your headlights. You usually have to use shims and "hit or miss" adjustments until you get it to your satisfaction. A few simple set screws for light adjustment would make the job so easy.

When we got a new cart late last year, one of the headlights was waaaaay out of adjustment. It was shooting into the treetops......literally! After a little bit of noodling, it turned out to be a fairly simple thing to resolve - remove a couple of screws that hold the headlight in place then loosen the headlight bracket, adjust, tighten, then put it all back in place. Worked out fine. This was on a Yamaha cart - other brands will undoubtedly differ.
Yep, the newer halogens sure are bright. But when properly adjusted, they do a great job after dark.
