Once we close on our house, Where do we get our resident ID's?

we were told we would get them the same day as closing. I think at the same place of closing. I think if you are closing long distance you contact the closing department and set up a time to get your keys and ID when you get into town.

At closing, you get your keys and car pass. Then they walk you across the hall to get your Village ID.

That's what transpired with us. We closed while still in CA and didn't move to TV for a number of months. When we arrived, we stopped in at the office, got our house keys, our gate passes and then walked to another room to have our pictures taken. It all went very smoothly....everyone in TV offices was very nice and welcoming. It was a great way to begin our lives in The Villages.

If you are buying a resale you may have to go to the CDD office on Wedgewood Lane. You can call them at the # on this page http://www.districtgov.org/idservices/idServices.aspx

We bought a resale in 2010 and we also got our IDs at the closing. The realtor was a Villages realtor so I'm not sure if that factored in. Everything went very smoothly at the closing.

We closed on a FSBO in June and did not get anything but the keys to the villa and post office. We finally were directed to The Villages Closing Office where we got our resident cards, a Villages phone book and other pearls of information.

A good question - and the kind of question that your real estate agent should be answering. If the agent isn't providing this kind of information, as well as offering to walk you through the process if necessary, then maybe it's time to look for a new agent.
