Not that I could tell. Happened to play golf over there last week and literally no sign of life there. Sad.

Can't you go to the HOA and demand these things to be re instated? If you loved them so much go gripe about them being gone ... Isn't it your village that is being changed in a way you disagree with ? Let them know how you feel ....Strength in numbers .....

We do have a yearly Residents' Survey where we are asked questions, plus write-in comments are solicited. The Developers do seem to try to respond positively to the wants of the majority. Myself, I find it sad to see these changes. Hopefully something positive will emerge.

Unfortunately, the problem is not enough people loved these places. Any business owner knows that in order to keep the doors open, you must have customers and cash flow.

Nope, this place does not listen to its residents. Remember the Buffalo, the indoor pool, fireworks on the 4 of July, the town squares staying open until midnight on New year's eve, Relay for Life. I always say those were the good old days.

I've served on a committee going on 8 years trying to get a real gym in here. We were always told it was coming and I'm sure under Harold and probably Gary, we would have it by now. There are many groups who need a real gym for their sport or activity. Plus its too hot to play outdoors most of the summer. We even offered to build it on our dime and showed them it could be a money maker. It wouldn't take that much to put in a gym floor in one of the closed restaurants. You should see the many church halls outside the Villages we use for our sports clubs. Believe me if a small church can build an all purpose gym/hall, the powers here could. It was only this last year we got the big "no", never.
What I've learned is all the residents and petitions won't change a thing. Mornings at the little exercise rooms in the regional rec centers have a line waiting for them to open during the high season. The grass root workers tried to get these places to close an hour earlier and open an hour earlier. Told they couldn't because the cheap little sign with hours was already made!!! Then one day, new signs, new hours!! Right now the gym at Laurel Manor is closed for 9 days when it has two outside doors and bathrooms. We all understand that they needed to close the main building but why not leave the gym open???We have done that before.
So I say the new powers that be- do not listen. That's why they lost a lawsuit. However, I also know that someone out there can get things changed. ( Like the hours on the exercise rooms.)

Oops, I apologize. I was just responding to Bare's comment about whether the powers that be listen. I really put in time on getting a gym in here and I'm still an optimist.

Larry, here is why I think that the Developer does listen to Survey comments. There have been two new dog parks added in the past four years, one in the north/west area and one south of 466. I think the Developer was (reluctantly) responding to input from residents.

As far as your comments about the lack of adequate Gym facilities, I totally agree. I was shocked when we purchased in TV to find out that there wasn't a free work-out room in every Village Rec Center. I would personally love to have better Gym facilities. However I think with golf, tennis, pickleball, etc., there probably hasn't been a huge outcry for indoor exercise facilities.

Larry ... good luck in your efforts.

Bare,
Good point on the dog parks. Yes, many good people worked hard to get those parks and they were much needed. I think part of why we got them is it didn't cost much. Or as I said, like the changing hours of the exercise rooms, sometimes someone has the power. Course that didn't take much money either.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Back to thread. Lets hope something good happens to Santiago.

I also would love to see at least one large serious gym in TV. I wonder if there is some reluctance by the developer due to liability issues.
