Lawrence Hill's Someone Knows My Name is a very powerful story of a strong woman's odyssey through slavery in the 18th century.
You will not want to be disturbed once you begin reading.

If you like that book, read A Widow's War and Bound by Sally Gunning about an indentured servant's life during the same period. Fascinating.

Just put in a library request for your book recommendation and am currently reading another TOTV recommendation, 24 Hours and also Unbroken. Recently finished The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Pink Boots and a Machete, The American Heiress, and Culture Shock! China by Angela Eagan. Looking forward to joining a book club in TV....actually just looking forward to returning!

This summer I read "Bonhoeffer-Pastor, Martyr,Prophet, Spy"...Biography of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a Lutheran pastor who became part of the German resistance against Hitler and Nazism in his home land. Excellent read! :BigApplause:
If you are looking for a historical classic, read "The Hiding Place". My all time favorite book-the story of the Ten Boom family, especially Corrie, who hid Jews during the Nazi occupation of Holland and survived a Nazi concentration camp.
