Smoking is allowed on golf courses, both championship and executive. Only place that is "public" that I know of where smoking is not allowed is in the seating areas of the town squares.

As a "former" I wish it would be outlawed completely.

I am a former cigar and pipe smoker. I still love the smell of a good cigar or good pipe smoke. I sometimes just go into GarVino's and their smoking lounge to smell the smoke. I miss both a lot but I do know a lot of people do not like the smells at all and I appreciate that.
Cigarettes smell terrible.

I know quite a few reformed smokers who will disagree with you about the smell of cigarette tobacco. I love the smell of a good cigar. Not in my house mind you, but outside or in the garage. I don't mind a good cigar smell.

Good to know! There's another place I'll steer clear of.

I`m a smoker and respect everything said here, and will not smoke if I think it will bother anyone, what I would like to see, is a perfume free areas, what is it with some women, it smells like they take a bath in perfume, thats an instant migraine for me. They should be banned from areas where smoking is banned, movies, resturants, airplanes ect. What are these women trying to hide?

Judging by your previous post of smoking should be outlawed one would think you would know to not go into a smoke shop without someone mentioning that it that it has a smoking lounge.
Anyway, this thread might as well be about guns because just as many people are on the pro side as the con side. My take is the same with both,
smoke if you want but follow the rules, own a gun if you want but follow the rules. Both are your right as a US citizen. God bless America.

I wasn't aware that Garvino's was a smoke shop. Thought it was just a wine bar.

It's actually both so that was an easy misunderstanding. Hope I didn't phrase it too strong. I actually like the smell of a good cigar and the taste of a fine wine.

Don't leave out some of the gentlemen who go way overboard with their aftershave/cologne.
There are both women and men I've had to get away from because of their overindulgence in a scent.

The query is, Where is smoking/nonsmoking allowed?
I hate it when posters don't address the topic!!!
Ok, so we know where smoking is allowed, but I want to know where non-smoking is allowed??? I see "no smoking" signs everywhere but I have never seen a "
"no non-smoking" sign posted anywhere!
I get sooo confused, can I smoke here, can I non-smoke here?
I wonder if Garvino's has a "no non-smoking" sign posted inside it's establishment...you would think so but probably not
And while I'm on a rant...I know that the posts of TOTV member named Fumar are always negative on one specific topic. I am a dog person but it doesn't bother me that he doesn't like dogs but he must really have ticked off practically every dog owner here in the villages. I see "No Fumar" signs everywhere!!

I think you can non-smoke wherever the hell you want.

Fumar posts are not always negative. Many of his posts provide good positive advice to our many dog owners.

To each his own regarding smoking....however I wish golfers who smoke would not discard their butts all over the golf course. I guess my problem is more a littering issue.....

George: Of course we can non-smoke wherever the hell we want. The converse of which is that we can not smoke just anywhere we want.
Reversing the above ying-yang (no is yes; yes is no) serves as the antithesis basis of my rhetorical query, Is there anyplace that discourages non-smoking but encourages smoking?
(Places like fish dip processing plants and bbq joints came to mind but I selected the TV business mentioned in a few posts earlier in this thread.)
Continuing the whimsical ponderance, the supposition is that Garvino's, an establishment that generates revenue from encourgaging its customers to smoke, should have signs prohibiting its patrons from non-smoking but that it probably doesn't.
Bogie: I, as do many TOTVers, have come to expect Fumar's "no dogs" comments and to appreciate how he manages to humously incorporate those comments into so many seemingly unrelated topics.
I was hyperbolizing Fumar's "dogs not welcome in TV" reputation by implying that he has angered TV dog lovers to the point where they have hung "No Fumar" signs everywhere...meaning that Fumar is not welcome...No Fumar being Spanish for No Smoking...smoking/non-smoking being the topic of this thread.
In response to Cousin Vinnie (a superb but somewhat profane comedy), the point of the question was to take an off-kilter look at common, everyday things for the purpose of starting our collective day off on a humorous step.
I sincerely apologize to George, Bogey, Fumar, and all other TOTVers whom I have (unintentionally) offended, agitated, or angered.
George
PS: Angie- I feel your pain regarding attempting subtle, it-takes-a-moment-to-get humor. Perhaps it's better to emulate Soupy Sales instead of Stephen Wright or Rita Rudner.

I too had tongue in cheek when I said Fumar gave good advice to our dog owners. Sorry, guess I need to be more specific with my comments.

I smoked 2-1/2 packs a day for 35 years, I guess that would make me a chain smoker. I never bought cigs by the pack, only the carton because I couldn't stand having less than 3 or 4 packs on hand.
When I was 55 I had thought to myself that I would smoke the rest of my life, it might be a shorter life but I liked smoking very much and on two previous attempts to quit smoking it never lasted more than six months. In both situations I had to give up coffee and alcohol.
In 2006 when I was 56 my wife came home from our family doctor and said I have a prescription for you, it's a new drug called Chantix, it's suppose to help you quit smoking.
I wasn't really interested but I thought, to make her happy I'll give it a try. To myself I thought, this will never work and I'm not changing a bit. Even with my drug card it was $100, well that's a $100 wasted.
I started the drug on Wednesday, on Saturday I was down to three packs, time to go to the store and buy a carton, but when I started to get up I didn't feel the urge to go. Sunday night I ran out of cigarettes and have never smoked since. That was five years ago.
It's the best thing I have ever done. Initially my weight went from 155 to 180, I'm only 5'9", eventually it leveled off at 165. In the last five years I have taken up bicycling, golf and 60 minutes of exercise five days a week. My weight now is at 155 and we have moved to TV last month. I haven't felt this good since I was a teenager. I played golf at Havana on Tuesday and shot an 82 from the white tees, I'm going out for softball in September and I'm going to ride my bike right now.
