Once again I find myself a victim of Comcast's billing errors and poor customer service ... am annoyed enough that I am motivated to file a complaint with their Florida regulators, but can't remember what agency regulates cable in Florida ... seem to recall it is something strange like the ag dept ... anyone filed a complaint against Comcast?

John M -
Here is one of several references about filing again Comcast. If you Google "file comcast complaint" there will be more.
Good luck.

You can also file a complaint with the county you live in since they renew the license every year or so. Call your county office and ask who to file a complaint with.
In some states the local government won't renew the license until every complaint is satisfied. That's leverage.

John - what were the errors? I'd like to know what to look out for. Thanks.

The latest billing error: In May I called to put account on seasonal hold, was told it cost $50 total, noted the name of the rep and transaction number; Comcast billed normal amount for June, Comcast did some kind of credits for July, showed balance after credits of $61; called to get it corrected, was told that there was nothing in account notes about one time charge of $50, asked to speak to supervisor, was told there was only one on duty and it would be at least 40 minutes ... decided to pay under protest and file a complaint ... probably will just cancel next year when we go north, but that is another nightmare story ...

You did not ask me, but I will tell you that two months in a row we were charged for movies we did not order. We have never watched ppv. When I called they said they would remove the charge which they did. However, the charge reappeared on a later bill. When I called to ask about it, they said the refund was refused by the review committee. Period. No supervisor to call, nothing. Just pay it. And, no notice about the refusal, just tucked into a bill. I do plan on looking into Directv, when I get back.
Another thing about Comcast. The $99 3 for starter fee is now (14 months later) $192 and will go up a bit more when I pick up the new boxes. At least $50 of the increases is due to price increases by Comcast. The rest is my upgrading.

Do what many of us did years ago...dump Comcast and go with DISH Network or DirecTV

But don't you have problems with satellite during bad weather. Where we lived before, everytime a storm came up, the satellite went out.

I initially had Comcast, then switched to Direct TV. Yes it went off during heavy rains.
Several months later after having Direct TV, the 2007 tornado hit my neighborhood and I was without TV for
4 or 5 days. (Not everyone had weather radios at that time.)
I had no info about what was going on except the radio. Direct TV did not get permission to enter
my village as most other contractors did.
Shortly after that happened, I switched back to Comcast and plan to stay there....just in case.

we're moving from Central Florida and we have Bright House. We're renting in TV and I am certainly not impressed by ComCast. I hope they have some choices for fast internet and more channels.

Currently, much of what Comcast distributes is an analog signal. Soon, they are switching to digital. You will need one of their converter boxes to receive the digital signals. I have been told by two people from Comcast that if you don't have the convrter, you will still be able to receive channels 2 through 22.
