Where have you eaten the best pizza either in or near The Villages.

The wife and I like the pizza - and the Italian food - at Belleview Pizza. They're located on Highway 441 in Belleview (about a 25 minute ride from our home in Duval). They're open six days a week, don't accept credit cards, and make a pretty good pizza (think or thin crust)!

We like both but believe Belleview's is just a tad better (maybe the long lines out in front are a deciding factor)

If Belleview House of Pizza is just a tad better than Little Joey's then it cannot be very good . . . the souce at Lttle Joey's is not even as good as what you get out of a jar a Publics.

We like the piazza at Little Joey's.We've been to Little Joey's a few time while in TV and although we didn't have pizza, my wife and I found their food to be very good. Having said that, I can't imagine being as bad as has been implied. I guess we'll just have to have pizza the next time we have the opportunity to go there and judge for ourselves! Or should I ask Chef Ramsey to go and check it out instead?

I agree with goongoozler regarding the sauce at Little Joey's. I've eaten there more than once and each time I didn't care for the sauce...I think my wife's sauce (a nice Irish gal) is better than Little Joey's. Never had the pizza though.

Regarding Belleview Pizza...I'm from NY and the pizza at Belleview is the closest to NY pizza that I've had.

I agree that Belleview pizza is good.

One thing that surprises me tho' is no one has mentioned NAPLES in Leesburg.

I've had their pizza a few times and I think it ranks right there with Belleview.

Looking for others opinions.

AND to tell you the truth . . I'm kinda partial to HOME RUN PIZZA from the frozen food section at Publix. - Made in Chicago. Taste is great! Only thing is - it's still a frozen crust.

aln - Are the pizzas at Naples thin crust or thick?

Thanks - Bill :)'

We ate at Naples 3 times and I don't remember popcorn being one of the toppings? :1rotfl:

Seriously, we did eat there three time, but never chose pizza. That's probably because we've been able to get pizza delivered the last two year and another 26 year at our previous home in Clifton Park, NY. So when we go out to eat we rarely want to get pizza since we have gotten it regularly at home. Might be more willing to get it around TV eventually.

At the same time I have to say that I got the gnocchi two of the three times at Naples. It's what I'm used to getting from one of the pizza places that deliver where I currently live, and it's pretty much like the homemade that my mother used to make.
:mmmm:
They also had gnocchi at Giovanni's where friends took us. I ordered it and by far it was the worse gnocchi that I ever had! I wouldn't rule out going there again since I don't know how the rest of their food is, but I won't be having gnocchi again!

Snappy's Pizza is first. Pauly's Pizza in Mulberry was good but that might have been because it was close to the house for pickup.

Belleview is heads and shoulders better than Joey's. Pasta Faire in Belleview is good also. The Pauly's in Spanish Springs is also pretty good. Come to think of it everybody is better than Joey's.
Last time we went to Joey's we had three different meals and they were all below standard - have not idea why people wait to go into there. If you want mediocre go to Olive Garden, at least they are consistent.
P.S. - I am Italian and know a little about Italian food.

Problem is Pizza isn't italian food!

Pizza isn't Italina food? I've been to Italy many times and visited many towns/cities and they all sell pizza . . . best pizza I've ever had in this world is a Da Franco's in Sorrento, Italy!

Maybe pizza was not invented or first made in Italy (yes, the tomato did not appear in Italy until 1544 - pomo doro) but let me tell you it is Italian food! In Italy, just like in the U.S., pizza varies by region . . . heck, even the breads in the Assisi area are made without salt so you'll certainly get a different taste.

History of Pizza: Originating in Italy, from the Neapolitan cuisine, the dish has become popular in many parts of the world. - Hanna Miller "American Pie," American Heritage, April/May 2006.

Tried the pizza last night at MALLORY HILL COUNTRY CLUB . . . long way from being GREAT. As pizza goes in the Villages it's better than most . . . they need a brick oven with wood buring inside to get more flavor . . . on a scale of 1-10 I'd rate it about a 7 1/2. Within golf cart range of the Villages I think both Bravo's (it does cost more) and Giovanni's make a better pizza.

Had pizza today (4 of us) at Mallory Hill CC and it was delicious. We asked for thin crust and it was perfect when we were served. I could swear that they have a brick oven with wood burning in it? I walked by a big hole in the wall that had flames in it!! Is it gas-fired??? This is just the kind of pizza we like so we would rate it a "10". Tried Bravo's just once and found, for us, they used way too much garlic. It's a good thing we all don't like the same thing or I would never be able to get into Mallory!!

Although many countries due their own take of these wonderful dishes, pizza was invented by the Greeks and spaghetti/pasta by the Chinese. My taylor thanks both of these countries for my increasing waist line over the years. Think I'll head to Taki's in Leesburg for a pizza tomorrow night as I just got back into town today. Loving the weather!

Talked to Tim last night on our Monday Pauly's fix and he told me his lease was expiring and after 10 years they would not renew it. He even tried to expand to the empty store next door but was denied. So in January Paulys is moving to 466 near Sante Fe about 2 miles away to a bigger, more modern and better Paulys.

Thank God there won't be a lapse in or Pauly "fix" but may have to take a car there......

If it has to do with the New Italian place ( Luigianos or something) all I can say is they handed out take out menus last night. Th menu semed weak with much the same fare we go to Giavannis or Olive Garden for. May try it just to see how good the food is but now there will be NO pizza place in SS and that is just wrong......

Problem is Pizza isn't italian food!

Glad to here it. That means we don't have to take the blame. We have enough junk-food to our credit as it is. Let's see, we have fatty, salty meats like italian sausage and meatballs, worthless Italian bread, starchy high-calorie spaghetti and lasagna. And so many others.

Although, the sauce can be very good with the proper recipe. That's the best part about Italian cooking. I love good sauce! Just don't add olive oil while the sauce is cooking. Olive oil doesn't need (or like) to be cooked.

I wonder if anyone in The Villages ever had pizza at Gabby's in Hollis, Queens. My Dad's drugstore (Franhill Drugs) was right next door, so we used to eat there often. Rachel Ray recently picked Gabby's as the best pizza in New York! They also had the best Chicken Parmigiana and Veal Parmigiana and Meatball Parmigiana heros.
