Part of the resolution will need to be finding out how they're getting in!

Here's one company's perspective on what to do: http://247wildlife.com/mice-attic.html

You can Google "mice attic" (without the quotes) to get some additional info.

Hope that helps!

Bill :)

We just installed an itsy-bitsy attic ladder, so they could get down...no problem :D

A shot gun works wonders, but it is a little hard on the roof trusses.
As an alternative consider using baited mouse traps for a couple of days to get rid of the majority of the critters , then put out a couple of DeCon bait trays to finish the job.
Your real problem is to find out how they are getting in and why they are there. What are they eating in the attic that draws them in, especially in this hot season? Normally mice invade homes when the weather gets cold.
Maybe you have nesting squirrels, which is a much bigger problem!

Call a pest control company. they will search the area to deermine how they are getting in, what is drawing them and how to get rid of them once and for all

How long have you lived in your home? How did you discover them? Did you hear them at night?

Thank you for answering.

Definitely need to fnd out how they are getting in so you can seal it up first. You can use glue traps to get most of them. It really sounds more like squirrels at this time of the year. If that is the case you need to get a company like this to take care of that. http://www.crittercontrol.com/

On a serious note...here are some suggestions of how to rid your attic of mice...interesting article, in my opinion.

I know I wouldn't like mice (or any other pests) in my attic. A friend once had a raccoon in his attic and that was a fun, but dangerous, time getting it out.

When in doubt, call a professional.

Good luck!

Lots of TOTV members that live in The Villages have bored cats. I'm sure you could borrow one. If I were in TV I'd lend you mine. Gracie Girl has three cats, no, make that two. She might drop one off.

That is correct Bare, as you have met our two cats, Mikey, Harry and Hershey.

I doubt if they would be interested in doing any mousing, they can read the labels on their kittie food and won't eat it unless it isn't on sale. They require you to pay full price and to buy the most expensive.

They won't eat it if we open the wrong flavor and they won't eat it unless they wake you up at four in the morning to open a can that maybe they won't eat.

Like Skyguy says. Dogs have owners, cats have staff.

My two cats, Winnie, Kasey and Sammie are great mousers. I sometimes get mice in the fall when it starts getting colder, but not for long. The girls usually thank me for the new toys I have provided. :1rotfl: They have even been known to bring me their "presents".

Then there was the summer of the frogs. Kasey was hunting the frogs in the pond behind my condo and bringing them back for me. Wasn't that sweet of her?

Gracie -- I thought my cat was the only cat that could read cat food labels...I've gotten Magic to eat Friskies wet food, but Fancy Feast is still his favorite. But his most favorite is people tuna like Chicken of the Sea or Star Kist. When I open a can of people tuna as a treat for him, he practically runs me over to get to the bowl.
