I know, I know, about the remote and how to change channels or mute the guilty commercial, but the latest one rubs me the wrong way....Have you viewed the commercial showing the parents trying to decide which child is their favorite....I know there is some sick humor in this BUT "I'm just saying"...Any that rub you the wrong way?

I agree. All of my kids played that "who's your favorite" thing...I stopped it easily by saying "I don't like any of you!" (they knew I was kidding but it did stop the question!!)

I was thinking the same thing when I first viewed that commercial. It doesn't make any sense and is hurtful. Nothing funny in that at all.

Oh and that other commercial "Hail to the V". Whaaaaat. Are you kidding me?

I guess I can go on and on, but won't.

I also agree about that commercial, the funny thing is, I cannot even recall what product they were selling, just the absurdity of the commercial.

I am bracing myself for all the very ugly political ads that are just beginning for the next 18 months or so......thank goodness for Tivo/DVRs

First time I saw that commercial, I wanted to cry. I know it's acting, I know it's a script, I know the kids aren't really siblings, but ....... How absolutely cruel!

No comment on the V commercial. Bad taste is bad taste no matter what it costs.

Ditto. But the latest trend when watching either on-line or on demand is to not allow users to bump through commercials:cry:

How about "any" of the commercials lately that require you to reduce the volume on your TV set otherwise you'll get blown right out of the room. Automobile ads seem to be the most annoying. Maybe it's just me, but I'll bet a lot of television watchers experience the same thing every day.

Commercials @#$%%%%^^. We either record what we choose to watch (to fast-forward thru commercials) or if not possible, we mute at all commercials. Initially, way back when... paid cable was for no commercials..... wha happened??? Now we see more commercials than the actual program and pay dearly for cable.

What's wrong with this picture?

Thanks for the link. I watched about 5 of their spots and don't really have a problem with any of them. In marketing you know that all humor will offend some people, you just have to make more laugh than not. BTW, I love my daughter the most too. But then again I only have one child:)

I have a feeling... This one didn't do it. :D

I can't speak for the people who didn't like it but I would think that it hits too close to home considering the issues with Bullying... and I get that!

I also agree that the product got lost... I'm don't think had I not googled it.. I would have known what they were selling.

Are there any US tv channels that do NOT have ads? We have 2 channels in the UK that are ad free. It seems that the other terestial (sp) channels and all the satelite channels are the same as yours!

I don't know if you get the Title Max commercials where you live but they are so incredibly sleezy. They use a very tall ex-basketball player, Dominique Wilkens, and a little person, Verne Troyer (mini-me) and use the phrase "a little short on cash?" How can the marketing department or ad agency think it is a good idea to use a sleazy commercial to advertise a sleazy business? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BX7IChI9OuM

There are always commercials people don't like and I've seen a s-load of them over the years. For example the current ad where a giant spider is on an iphone or droid and the guy takes his shoe and pounds the c*** out of it with the heal of the shoe. My wife even thanks me when I catch it and mute the sound so we don't have to listen to it!

There are also some ads being that are being aired in NYS by the NYS Dept. of Health that I feel that you are lucky not to be subjected to it in TV. It's an ad to deter smoking, which in itself is an admirable goal, but it's the nature of what you see - the way it's presented that is in a lot of peoples opinion, quite disturbing!

The ads are not just disturbing to many viewers, but it also imposes itself upon those who have never smoked or have not smoked in years, and those people are needlessly subjected to it!

I personally feel disgusted and slightly nauseated every time I see one of them, and I don't get disgusted or nauseated that easily. Anyway here is one of those commercials and probably the least disturbing of them:

You are right, Skyguy, that is a horrible and disturbing ad. But as I watched it, I couldn't help thinking about my girlfriend who is killing herself with chain smoking. I wish she'd watch it.

Here is yet another anti-smoking ad that's airing not only in NYS, but apparently internationally. Is it right to exploit a child like this in order to get him cry real tears by scaring the bejeebers out of him!

http://youtu.be/SfAxUpeVhCg

When I was around the the age of the kid in the video, I nearly got separated from my mother as we were entering a subway car in New York City. I was following my mother in and the door almost closed completely between us. and I can still remember vividly the horror I felt and tears I produced. To exploit this child as they did to get their message across is beyond the pale in my opinion!

Here is a related story that also has a link to a related poll about the video.

And did you notice that all the ATT ads for their smartphone that can surf the web while talking on the phone are for how you can use the phone to lie to the caller? Is that a good advertising strategy?
No, honey, I didn't forget our anniversary.... The restaurant's on fire... Send me another bouncy castle...

On the other hand, I love the Target ads with the teachers.

My Dad died of complications from emphysema and this sadly reminds me of how he suffered and yet smoking amoung the youth is on the rise....I don't get it!

I'm not a smoker and I realize the deadly consquences, however, I cannot stand the one of the poor soul hacking and coughing away from emphesyma or lung cancer with his back turned.......it's very long and very disturbing.
My other pet peeve a few years back was the little "pink stomach". Usually it was always shown right after suppertime.

All of these DRUG AND HEALTH COMMERCIALS HAVE TO GO. Plus we just love the one where they try to hook people onto various pharmaceutical drugs and then cover their bases with "Can cause lymphoma, T.B., blood diseases, cancer, etc., etc. infections, etc." Better to go holistic and natural.

Also, there are many that make people of all ages look like idiots.
Who is writing the majority of these commercials? Not our age group.

Yes, Senior, I've been thinking about that very thing. I always thought it was up to a Doctor to suggest whaever drug would be appropriate to remedy a health issue. Yet these ads are all appealing to the Consumer .... "pick me", "suggest me to your Doctor". It must be driving Doctors crazy to have patients demanding inappropriate drugs. At least now the ads have to talk about side effects and not hide them. (Even though they do it so quickly and in such a low tone that you can't even hear them!)
