Her honor must be respected...except those parts that are wrong -- that whole 14th amendment thing (which is totally misunderstood) as well as this nonsense: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." -- well, that kinda bugs me.

As I read it, the 'super committee' will present their proposal. It will then GO TO THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO BE WRITTEN UP AS A BILL AND VOTED ON - up or down, no ammendments. This satisfies the Constitution. If it passes, it'll go to the Senate, etc.

I think certain people do not understand. If cuts are made and the voter asks calls his Rep out on it, all he has to say is the the Committee did it. It lets the House and Senate off the hook. It is a scam.

I think certain people do not understand. No congressman will be forced to vote for anything that comes out of the committee. That is, unless, he can't think for himself and just follows the party leaders.

Why do we pay Congress to make decisions and they pass it off on a committee? That's like me and my wife cannot decide what bills to pay, so I go down to the local recreation center and ask a few people to make our decisions for us. Only problem is that the bill collectors will still hold my wife and I responsible. Politicians will say that it is out of their hands because their committee made the decisions. They will get off scot free. And then they will be voted in again. My wife and I will get a bad credit rating and lose our home?

Beside all the previously mentioned criticism of this committee a basic faux pas ihe field of economics that those appointed was based primarilyon their political views vis a vis their expertise in economics. So if you are pro-Dem that is going to bias your selection...................I do understand that they have to present a plan that has something for both Dems and Repub but the problem with that is Congress/Adminsitrations keep doing this and its good for everybody turns out be be not good for the economy, businesses and the American people ...Get ready fro another wasted stimulus package from Team Obama coming this fall

There will be no up or down vote, there will be a clean slate because there will not be anything to vote on.

Once the committee comes up with the cuts, its recommendations must be approved by the House and the Senate before Dec. 23. A failure to pass the cuts would trigger the $1.2 trillion of automatic spending cuts.

Yes, but as politicians, they will say that they had no choice and that they had to pass it it but the cuts were decided by the committee. When they campaign they will say the cuts in the specific programs weren't their fault. You cannot see that?

Most, if not all bills, go through committees before being brought to the floor for a vote. The main difference on this committee is that it is made up of senators and representatives, and when brought to the floor of each house, cannot be amended but must be voted either for or against.

Any senator or representative is free to vote their conscience and can be held accountable for their vote. I don't know how you can say that they will not be.

As far as me knowing what you mean, as I have pointed out, you have been making false statements in your prior posts and I have been trying to show you where the statements are wrong.

I happen to think it is good that they created this committee, because there is better chance of getting something done with a small group, rather than a couple hundred trying to protect their turf.
