Huh, I hope you realize that my heading was satire?
Many people voted for The Annointed One because he said he would end the war and he didn't.
The "War" could go on after we are dead and buried.

I don't think the satire in your heading was missed... I voted for Obama and he did say he would get us out of the war and he didn't!!! You will NEVER see me defend someone who says they will do something and doesn't... But that goes for the republicans as well.
Don't missunderstand. There I have issues with BOTH sides!!!
I did not vote for McCain because I didn't think Sarah would be a good president and Mr. McCain was in his 70's.

I voted for mcCain because I believe and still do that he would have better managed these two wars, our foreign policy and eventually bring closure faster and in a better mannere than Dems. On the economic side is there anyone who still believes that Obama is better at fixing the economy then McCain? McCain's commitment, and love for this country and his stic-to-itive=-ness was greatly needed.

Rubicon,
If the Republican ticket in 2008 was McCain (Huckabee, Romney) they would have won. It was putting Sarah Palin on as the VP candidate that lost the election for Republicans. She and her family (not bashing here) were too much baggage for voters to want a heartbeat from being President.
Put up someone like Romney with Huckabee as VP candidate and Republicans can win in 2012. Put up Bachmann or Paul and middle of the road to moderate right voters will vote for the Democrat candidates.

I am greatly concerned that the right GOP candidates get chosen because as I stated elesewhere journalist and voters are too easily distracted with nonsens and not focusing on substantive issues. I for one am going to work hard to remain reticent concerning candidates incosequential gaffes and stay focused on whether they are making sense on plans to fix the country

I have no idea...right now I lean to Romney as I did in 2008, but there are quite a few newcomers on the scene and much to hear and listen to. Unfortunetly there is no contest on the Dem side so that is that.
VP is almost always a political thing....getting votes or at least it always has been.....serves no purpose at this point to even discuss that. I like Romney simply because he has ALL the qualifications for the job...no guarantee of success but he has it all. And I ignore al those who bring up any warts about anyone......ALL in public office for any length of time...or in business for any length of time...have decisions they made in good faith that they would love to have back. Times change..situations change and thus far he would be my choice. A number of young folks in the Rep party who may grow over years into viable candidates but not now.....which leads me to the question...are there any YOUNG DEMOCRATS around worth watching. I cant think of many...they pretty much are the old tried and true at this point anyway

Oh great. Instead we got the buffoonish Biden at the point of your greatest fear. That's soooooo much better. And to just make the whole American public giddy with delight, instead of American Patriot John McCain, we got leftist-socialist Barack Obama. Ohhhhhh joy. D'ya think all the lobbyists for the defense contractors have a greater say over whether the country goes or remains at war than whoever might have been elected POTUS?
What does it say when 70-80% of Americans want the wars to stop, but the elected representatives figure out reasons to keep them going? I think I've said it several times before...Follow the Money!

Right on,Rich. That is only opinion about Palin losing it for the republicans. There are many opinions why Obama won including 96% of blacks voting for him. Then there are the white guilt voters.
Obviously, not many did their homework or we wouldn't be stuck with the most incompetent president in history, barring none.

Not so much homework.....in my opinion, the media should be so embarassed by their complete lack of professionalism or whatever you may wish to call it.
Just read this forum....we are incensed that a young woman who is not running for office walked off a talk show.....it is headlines on CNN and elsewhere and discussed ad nauseam....YET
We have a man who is nominated for President of the United States associatons revealed and just tossed aside as if nothing...we hear of a 20 year relationship with man he called him mentor simply shrugged off after one bad press day...I recall Romney having a full blown press conference to respond to his Mormonism..
This past election was a figmant of the press and I hope that WE have learned our lesson and stop being simply sheep to the media !

He lost me with his VP choice, pandering to the far right of the party, and then really sealed the deal for me when he let his handlers make his campaign totally negative, almost totally avoiding reasonable debate on the issues.
By the way, the upcoming 2012 campaign might be a flip-flop from 2008. All the political strategists that I've heard recently have said whoever the GOP candidate is, the only way Obama can win is with a bitterly negative campaign strategy. They opine that with $1 billion to spend, we'll be inundated with negative ads.
That's too bad. I'm guessing whatever Congress we wind up with on January 20, 2013 will be even more fractured and partisan than now...if that's possible.

I believe and think you have said also....the future is dim no matter the results. If you look at the media, political pundits, blogs, forums like this and there is more acrimony and pure hate than ever before. We now are not satisfied with disagreeing with a politicans politics or leanings, we seem to have this hateful need to hurt them !

Not going to happen, Bucco. Millions have been added to the welfare and food stamp rolls. Jobs are scarce or non existent. There is no real plan to help small business which powers this Nation. Citizens now are the least educated in history thanks to government schools and their agenda's.
Younger people do not get involved except in cult heros. How do you think Barack Hussein Obama got the votes?
Worthless slogans like "Hope and Change" can get the votes. How pathetic is that? We have no real hope and it has changed for the worst.
It was all out there about Obama's past and the media suppressed the information. Slogans win elections...how's that for our future?

Well, Village Golfer, you called it yourself without help from anyone. You said millions have been added to welfare and food stamp rolls. Younger people vote for cult figures. They do not want to vote for old white guys or reactionary right wing figures. Young people always vote liberal.
If millions have been added to welfare and food stamp rolls, who do you think they will vote for? You know there will be a massive get out and vote drive for them.
The Democrats have the way of winning here.

Yes, but this country and it's people will lose. We will not be the super power anymore. We will not be the shining light on the hill. We will be destroyed within like the communists predicted. Is that what you want Tbug?

I guess you cannot refute the facts I made about a Democrat victory. No, our country will not be destroyed by another Democrat victory. It was almost destroyed by Richard Milhouse Nixon and most recently by George Walker Bush. It is the current Republicans who are hell-bent on destroying the country because they do not like being led by someone who does not look like themselves or has a name different than the norm.

Probably not a good idea to listen to everyone who claims to hear from God. There are alot of people out there who make this claim in order to con others out of something. It is often easy to do as there are alot of folks out there who desperately want to hear from him, but don't really want to take the time to listen for themselves.

The part of history that everyone is rewriting is that John McCain's campaign was in the toilet UNTIL he picked the "much loved" by the media Gov. Sarah Palin for his vice-presidential candidate. Much loved?; yes because of the way she went after the corrupt oil interests and their Republican benefactors in her state of Alaska and got those Republicans thrown out. She was a media darling and was much touted in liberal publications like Newsweek and Time.
But once she became national and now a threat to The One in his bid to be President, all her folksy steadfast all-American charm was transmogrified in her now being portrayed in that same media as a stupid hick from the outer reaches of this country without a brain in her head.
Despite all the vile slander on the character of this woman she still remains the one figure who can guarantee huge crowd turnout no matter where she goes; and no matter where she goes she upstages anyone else there merely by her presence.
When it comes to speaking about true American values and dedication to God and country, there's hardly another public figure who articulates American greatness with the panache of Gov. Palin. No wonder her adversaries had to destroy her. She scares the living daylights out of them.

I do not believe the left-wing propaganda that Palin lost the election. Look at the clown that ran with Barack Hussein Obama. The media and so called minorities won it for Obama. I say it again:Palin didn't lose it, the minorities and the uninformed won it.

Yes, I agree that the minorities were probably instrumental in winning it for Obama. And of course, Oprah influences a lot of people! Somehow Biden seemed to slide under the radar, perhaps because he is male, I wonder. At the same time, the media was instrumental in ridiculing Palin. Katie Couric, Tina Fey on SNL ... and Palin provided them with lots of ammunition.

Biden provided them with lots of ammunition but because he is a male democrat he gets a free pass? If I was a female, I would be totally outraged at the hypocrisy of the media.
