Can anyone tell me how many Pickle ball courts there are in TV? I want to tell my brother who lives in Surprise, AZ where the sport is very big.

I googled pickleball in The Villages and saw one thread that said over 100 courts but couldn't find anything else.

I think Sterling Heights brought it up to 106 ... anyway, just over 100 is a good roundabout figure.

Kittylecroix...Here are some facts you might spout to your brother: National Pickleball has long been held in the Arizona/Washington areas, where they formed a national organization to establish standard rules for all to play by (USAPA). After the USAPA was formed, an effort went out across the country to enroll membership. Until The Villages jumped on the bandwagon, Arizona had the greatest membership. Once the word got out around here, The Villages easily became the largest membership and still is. Once you add the rest of the state of Florida, no one state should ever match us.
Next, in 2009, a group of Villages players decided to see how well they might do on the "National" platform. I believe there were approx. 16 players who made the treck to Surprise, Ariz. Those 16 residents bought back a total of 27medals, with most being gold and silver. Many of the age groups had to play other Villages players in the medal rounds. Although there are still some of our folks who participate in Arizona, many are now traveling to play in the Utah Huntsman Senior Games. Make no mistake about it......THIS IS THE PICKLEBALL CAPITAL OF THE COUNTRY and maybe the world. This is not to minimize the efforts and beauty of Surpise, Arizona and the National Tournament they run. They do an exceptional job in running their tournament. We here in The Villages are hopeful, that one day soon, we will also be hosting a tournament of that magnitude. It just takes a little more coaxing of the powers that be.

Hope I posted in the right place
My wife and I are visiting in Dec. and wanting to play Pickleball (we play regularly). Where is the best place to play? Will we be welcomed at most courts if we are not regulars? Any mixed doubles that would be interested?
Thanks can't wait till we can be full time Villagers.

The pickleball courts are located at the Recreation centers through out the villages. At most courts you just show up and get in line during open play. As a word of caution some courts do not welcome beginners, in what village are you going to be staying?

oPEN TIMES ARE USUALLY 7 TO 10 am. Anyone can join in and play then. If you are experienced players you should be able to play almost anywhere. La Hacienda is very friendly as is Mulberry and Bacall. I'm sure other places are too. Some people will give you the "once over" when you step inside the gates, but fear not , just get in line and you'll be on the court soon.
