Now that we have a real threat of a hurricane impacting the Villages, I thought I would list a few of the many hurricane apps for iOS and Android devices. All of the apps listed show the storm track and lots of other useful information. There are many hurricane apps in the Apple & Android App Stores, but these are free apps that I have used personally.

iOS Devices (iPhone & iPad)

iHurricane HD - Tracking The Eye is a Hurricane Tracking System that integrates with HurricaneSoftware.com's applications to give you the most up to-date and reliable hurricane coordinates data and high resolution maps. Using GeoLocation you will be able to tell how far an active storm is from you in miles at any moment, see satellite images of active storms. Get information such as wind-speed, millibars and much more.

Android Devices

Hurricane Hound Free - Hurricane tracking on a Google Maps background. Shows the tracks and forecasts of active hurricanes tropical storms. Also highlights areas the National Weather Service (NWS) is watching for possible development. Covers the Atlantic and Eastern Pacific Basins. Provides access to NWS forecast information include tropical outlooks and discussions, public advisories, forecasts, and satellite imagery.

Hurricane Software - Hurricane Tracking application to give you the most up to-date and reliable hurricane coordinates data and high resolution maps. Satellite Images, Warning Information, Storm Tracks and More.

Enjoy.... Mike

DISCLAIMER: I have no interest in any of these companies. These are simply the apps that I use on my devices to track tropical storms. App descriptions have been copied from the app store for your convenience.

Appreciate it Mike. I downloaded Glympse too but haven't had a lot of time to look at it.

Hi Jblum,
You are right that Hurricane HD is $3.99. However iHurricane HD is free. Guess it pays to dot the i. Go figure.

Thanx, Mike...

Went to dinner last nite with 2 couples...told them about this app. Everyone suddenly stopped talking, pulled out their iPhones and installed the app. They were all very impressed. Thanx for sharing!
