DeBary, FL – Village of Bridgeport of Lake Sumter resident Ron Cooper overcame a rare putting miss cue and recently aerated greens to record his first win with a 78 in the Championship Flight on the Senior Amateur Golf Tour of North Central Florida at the DeBary Golf and Country Club course yesterday (Monday, August 22).
When asked, Cooper replied with a good-natured laugh, that his three putt “was from two feet and the green didn’t have anything to do with it.”
Other winners included, the trio of: Wayne Morrison in the “A Flight”, with a 83, Jerry Smith in the ”B Flight” with an 83, and Terry Campbell in the “C Flight” with an 85, that has won back-to-back tournaments.
Morrison is from Macclenny, FL, Smith lives in Spring Hill, FL, Campbell is from Brooksville, FL,
The Tour’s next tournament is Monday, Sept. 12 on the El Campeon course at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL.
