Any machinists out there-need to make a a u bracket out of flat stock

How thick and wide is the material and what material is
it cold roll, aluminum,etc.

It's about 1 1/2 wide and 1/8 thick. I believe it is mild steel. The bracket
I need would be ushaped going over 1" square stock.

Will there be holes in your bracket? A clearance hole on one end and a threaded hole on the other? It would be best to put holes in before you bend it into shape? Maybe use a vice and a hammer?
Think I would need more info.

I was an machinist, but your job really doesn't require one. C clamp the flat bar to the sq tube and with a hammer (soft or rubber) form the first bend, then C clamp that side and form the second bend with your hammer. Once the bends are made cut the two sides to length with a hack saw. Hope this helps.
