I am coming in for a visit and would like to stock up my fridge before i have to take back the rental car i drive down in. That means I'll be grocery shopping Sunday morning. Are the larger grocery stores there open Sunday morning? - I assume Wal-Mart would be - right?
thanks!

Are there places in the US, where the large grocery stores are not open on Sunday morning?

Let sleeping dogs lie.
All of the grocery stores are open on Sunday morning . I remember when they weren't though. We used to be able to race go carts, fly kites and play stick ball in the parking lots.

I can remember back in the 50's in Ohio when we had the Blue Laws. Only thing open on Sunday was a drug store, and only for Rx's.
Sweet Bay opens at 7AM, closes at 11PM on Sunday.
Publix opens at 7AM, closes at 9PM on Sunday
Winn Dixie opens at 6AM and closes at 10 PM on Sunday.
It's so nice to have stores open on the weekends...I remember when they weren't.

I am pretty certain New Jersey still has the blue laws in effect?????
Maybe just Bergen County?

It's still that way in Germany....you better buy everything you need on Saturday. The only places open on Sunday are restaurants and bars...you can only eat and drink on Sunday...

Just a note: There are certain holidays when the stores are closed. Easter is one and I think that Thanksgiving and Christmas are the others.

Had to check and discovered that Sweetbay is open on Easter Sunday. It's open on Christmas Day, too. Pharmacy has different holiday schedule so if you have to use it, check first to make sure it's open
Where we lived prior to TV, just about EVERYTHING was closed on Easter Sunday. Imagine my surprise to find Sweetbay open here!
I'm not sure about the other supermarkets. Sweetbay is near my house and my first stop when shopping.

I like Faithful Frank to pieces but I really get curious when posts go Poof!
Bogie is a person I agree with 99% of the time. He isn't inappropriate ever that I can remember.
Frank...could you summarize what happened here?

I questioned why bogie did a thumbs down to the OP's question, some others put in their 2 cents worth then BAM, gone with the wind.

Gracie,
I'd be happy to. Usually Moderating is not explained, as at times the explaining can cause more of a disruption, but because Moderating is kind of new here, and the dust has not settled yet, I will explain.
One of the posts had a "thumbs down" icon on it. because of that, some thought that it might have been giving a message that was not intended. The poster who had the "thumbs down" icon posted later that he did not know why it was there, and wished it could go away.
I removed the "thumb". There were then a few posts after talking about the "thumb" that was now gone. That would have been very confusing, so those posts were removed as they were now "orphaned posts", simply meaning that they pertained to a post or subject that was no longer there.
On most forums when a post is way off topic it will get deleted......so the thread stays easy to understand and less confusing. Because "Modding" is still a bit new here, it seems like almost any intervention causes more confusion then it has solved........hopefully all will be calmer in this regard soon.
As many know, the forum is in a transition stage. We all have the same goal...to have one of the best, friendliest, most informative forums around. Moderation will be kept to a minimum....with the objective only to keep the forum respectful, kind and easy to use and understand. I know many of you do not have a lot of experience with other forums.....believe me, compared to some other forums, this one is quite tame and comfortable.
I apologize for the long post. I hope this helps so we can just carry on and enjoy our blessed lives......
Respectfully, Frank

:pray:I lived in Fort Lauderdale back in the day (before you were born, children) when stores were closed on Sunday. There was a rumor that they had mandatory staff prayer meetings at Publix.
