We are going up North for a few months and was told by Comcast (my carrier) that their vacation package ends August 15 each year. I was told by comcast that my options were to continue with their package while I am gone ($250 a Month) or totally discontinue comcast and pick it back up when I return to the Villages. I want to keep Comcast but do not want to pay $500 for services in Florida when I am not even here. What is the best option for me and are there any other options I have overlooked?

Drop all your Comcast services down to just BASIC. Around $7.95 per month.:BigApplause:

I ran into the same problem and decided to just drop Comcast, completely.

I had triple play bundle and decided I did not need the digital voice so was not concerned about dropping the phone number when I cancelled Comcast out. You might to check just to see if you keep your number if you drop to "basic" level... I don't know, but then I wasn't concerned about it.

I want to compare directTV with CenturyLink internet to Comcast cable and internet when we come back in November.

when we leave n.j. we downgrade to basic...when we return we ask to restore to prior premium pkg...and we ask for the current promo rate at the time...works well for us...we just bite the bullet on paying the mthly 'rental' fee for the digital boxes.

When I left at the end of July I was in the same boat. I turned in the boxes and remotes and lowered package to basic at 16.95 a month. When I return no call is needed just pick up boxes upgrade package and your back in business.

I never heard of your problem. I'm a seasonal resident and use the Comcast vacation option, both in TV and here in Maine, to reduce service while I'm not there or here. I give them the dates and my regular service is automatically restored.
