New windows, new High Speed Turbo Fans = New attitude. We frequent Cody's outside bar a lot, but the other day after a rain, the fans were not needed. Had the bartender request they be turned off, as they only have one speed (Duh!) and was told they will turn them off when they deem it necessary, not the customer. Okay then. Guess business is good, so we don't have to worry about the custmer as much now. Too bad, as we really like the bartenders there as well as the HH and food.

Sounds like you are happy with Cody's then. We love both the food and the service there. Good to see other satisfied customers for Cody's. I'm sure they had a better reason to keep the fans on than you did to turn them off.

Could it be that the fans are needed to keep the smoke moving away from the dining room? They do allow smoking at the outside bar. Just a thought . . . .

Bonny
08-27-2011, 05:45 AM
They actually have fans inside above the windows to keep the smoke out. The problem with the big fans is it's been very hot. Some people request them on & others want them off. :undecided: As with everything else in the world, you'll never make everyone happy.

I am not a disgruntled first time poster or a disgruntled employee. Just a lad who knows the difference between good, bad and marginal eaterys.

Went to Cody's after it first opened. Decided that food and service could not be that bad. Went back a second time with out of town guests. Am still embarrassed for taking good friends to a place that serves such crappy food. Service was no better second time around. Must be the building as the Fish joint that was there before Cody's was also putrid!

It would be nice if, just occasionally, a negative restaurant post could be seen for what it almost certainly is - a fellow TOTVer sharing his/her experiences with us so we can make an informed decision.

Yet, almost without exception, such a post triggers a charge from the conspiracy theorists who can't believe that someone would dare to insult their favorite eating place.

I am delighted that you have had wonderful experiences there - fabulous food, impeccable service, not a spoon out of place - but nowhere is perfect and I, for one, would like to know when things go wrong as well.

Really, what is the likelihood that a disgruntled employee even subscribes to TOTV, let alone thinks that posting about a fan problem will cause everyone to desert the place and send his evil employer to the poor-house?

I don't recall seeing a positive restaurant post met with a tirade of posts about how it must be the manager trying to drum up business.

So, unless something is clearly amiss, let's assume that people post the truth.

I also question a post like this when it's a first time poster. The remark was not a restaurant review. It was stated that there were "2 incidents" of people finding "large bugs" one in a salad & one in a wine glass which I assume means 2 different days. Just curious where this poster got his information.
I know of a few restaurant employees that are on TOTV.

Becuse of that open window in the bar area flies are a problem. I don't go there much but have found that flies are really bothersome when you're trying to eat your meal. I don't know what they can do with that window other than to close it permanently. If not they will always have a fly problem.

There are many people...ooops, I meant CHEAPSKATES...who will say or do ANYTHING to get their food taken off the bill after eating most of it.

Sometimes people's cheapness borders on mental illness...the way they'll lie and fabricate things wrong (Like a housefly flying over the restaurant patio table while dining....some have demanded their meal for free.) The shamelessness is appalling sometimes.

I went to Cody's twice when it first opened. I am surprised it is still operating? What suprises me more is the contempt with which those pro Cody customers show toward customers who where less than enamored with Cody's products/services? I have noticed this with other eatery critques. More perplexing is the implication that such customers must have a personal agenda. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and in that vein taste is in the taste buds of the customer. I for one am pleased that we have this information available. While I seldom eat out I review the critques often so that if I am invited, or invite someone, I will know what I am getting into

So, unless something is clearly amiss, let's assume that people post the truth.

Well said. My wife made the mistake of posting a negative report about a dining experience she had at Glenview CC and she was immediately pounced on by the mob.

She was accused of being a disgruntled ex-employee--no, she is a nurse who was taking her 84 year old mother out to lunch.

She was asked if she contacted the manager--she mentioned she did in her initial post. The manager was less than helpful and my wife was was told essentially "that couldn't have been the manager because I know the manager and he is a good guy."

Someone said that it is usually the "attitude" of the poster that leads to poor service--I love my wife, but she is the biggest wimp I know. For her to get up the courage to talk with a manager, SOMETHING had to be seriously wrong.

What bothers me the most about this type of response is that it deters people from giving their actual opinion. My wife no longer wants to have anything to do with TOTV because of the nasty remarks she received for giving her honest opinion about the poor service she received at a restaurant. That is unfortunate.

Hi, Captain Jon, I read your post, and just wanted to say to Stacy that I hope she will reconsider and share on the forum. There is so much to gain from the information that is given and received by all of us. At times there are misunderstandings such as Stacy experienced, and I can understand how she felt. I believe that people on TOTV are goodhearted folks, and sometimes acting out of good intentions on behalf of others who are being seen by them, whether correctly or not, as being wronged, unintended hurt feelings can occur. All of us have seen that happen at times; and it probably can't always be avoided. I guess what I'm saying is that when feelings are genuinely hurt on this forum, that is almost for sure not what was intended by the person who sent the message; so it helps if we try to look at it that way; and let it go after a while; let bygones be bygones. There are too many friendships to miss out on otherwise, from this forum.

In the long run, this is such a wonderful place for the people that come together here; it would be a shame for Stacy not to be a part of that, and for the forum to miss out on the benefit of her input; and I feel that others would share my hope that she will join in, as a welcomed member of the forum.

Thanks for he kind words, I will be sure to pass on the message. I think she is coming around and hopefully she'll be back posting soon. I tend to agree with you, most people do not intentionally post to hurt other people's feelings, but the written word does carry a lot of power and can produce just as much pain as a slap in the face. Sometimes people should think things out before they put their fingers to their keyboard.

On our first night ever in the Villages in May we ate at Cody's. I ordered a steak and it was not edible. Last week we were in the Villages again and were told to try the bar food. We did and I enjoyed the ribs and onion rings. My wife had the small cheeseburger which was very tasty. We went back again for lunch later that week and had another good experience. I think that's a resonable way to approach things Max.

Personally I prefer to try a place at least twice if the first time was bad. Do I take other opinions into consideration? Of course. But all that would do for me is to confirm my own bad experience if that happened.

I like what Max did - first visit, not good - next two he found what that bar/restaruant does well.
