THE Libyan rebels that will now rule Libya and should we be concerned about them ?

"Now that Moammar Gadhafi's regime has lost control of the Libyan capital Tripoli, some Africans have been left vulnerable to attack. Many rebels believe any dark man from sub-Saharan Africa is a Gadhafi mercenary. The Africans say they are in Libya either as laborers or waiting to get to Italy. The International Organization for Migration says their plight is a significant problem."

I think it will be a while before we see if they are going to be good or bad. From some of the things that I read, they are not going to play nice.

Sort of scares me a bit. We rushed in with NATO awful quickly and it never appeared to me that we had any idea of those we were befriending.

We better be careful !

what is this fixation with Libya? In too soon,in not soon enough, slaughtering thousands of innocents,I suggest we let it play out. Either way some of you will not be happy no matter what happens.

Boy, you sure have a chip on you shoulder.

There was no criticism of anyone...if you dont give a darn about them, fine...I do wonder and that is all I asked.

Nobody in this thread said "TOO SOON".......please, try to discuss and not jump immediately into a defensive mode !

My only comment was that we need to watch it...you obviously are advocating to ignore them and let them do what they want !

Oh and the "fixation" as you call it was because we just helped overthrow a government in an area that is about to explode....sorry if that does not fit into your schedule, but calling it a fixation is a wonderment !

For anyone who is interested, this commentary from the NYT is interesting. It addresses what the writer feels needs to be addressed moving forward...has good advice especially...

"And deweaponization is essential. A cash-for-arms program should be instituted. Furthermore, young fighters should be incorporated into a new security force. International assistance is critical to this process, particularly in providing advisers and training programs for law enforcement. "

Keep a good eye on Libya.....quite another balancing act.
