to get organized...the deficit reduction panel that is.......and nice to see one party leader give kudos to another who was just appointed to a key position.

""Mark has a well-earned reputation for being a workhorse who members of both parties have relied on,'' said the committee's co-chairmen, Sen. Patty Murray (D., Wash) and Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R.", Tex.)."

In speaking of Mark Prater.

They begin their work shrouded with forecasts of non success...

"In short, don’t count on much real deficit reduction any time soon, despite this summer’s debt limit deal that, amid much angst, allegedly cut spending by $1.2 trillion over the next decade."

Interesting that the writer does not see the problem with the committee but withthe full congress.

Let us hope this groups is not ignored as was the last one appointed by the President !!!

Presidents and legislatures have a habit of ignoring these committees. It's a time-honored tradition going back at least as far (in my memory) as the Grace Commission under Reagan. Imagine if their recommendations had taken hold back THEN!

The alternative is to stop trying...I dont care for that and wish the best !

Again, I made the point...nice to see a bit of bipartisan on this committee...sorry if this is not bashing anyone..boring I suppose but I still hope for the best for this venture !
