I am going to take advantage of the Ignore as recommended by Admin when Someone becomes too aggressive or insulting. Since there is only about 6 or 7 members of the political board that create about 90 % of the negative feeds on this website, I don't see me missing anything important. I will give you feed back as time gos by. I have even sent PM to one individual trying to make peace, but it is not capable of the person to be civil, so me blocking him is his loss not mine.

Just want to share my feelings with you and I understand your frustration.
This forum is turning into a place to insult and bash, maybe not posters but not exluding them !!!
It seems whatever issues face this country, internally or foreign affairs wise, is ignored and we simply insult anyone who does not march in step with the poster. And on occassion even their family.
It is becoming like an elementary school playground where posters come on just to see if they can fling the latest and best insult out.
Not political discussion at all....childish antics at best.
You can talk about issues but nobody even responds....either they just flat dont care or have more fun slinging insults.

Thank you very much for that supporting post. I really feel I will have more fun on this site if I block the few bad apples from spoiling my interest in this site. I have read some great post like from BK Cunningham and DP long and so many others, but that certain few seems to be trying to destroy the board, so I will block them and move on. I don't agree with some of the post by DP, but I have been on here for over 3 years and he has always been civil and has kept me interested in reading what he has to say. I have been sarcastic on occasion, but some live for nothing but controversy. Folks, we have too many problems to fall into that trap. Mine stops now and I apologize for any comment I have made in the past that was not proper. Lets get to the business of solving political problems and not making them worse than they are. PLEASE

Hey, in Poli it might be OK to insult other posters as long as you don't name names.
But this isn't Poli. Oh wait... sorry. This is Poli. Nevermind.

After a period of time, for me, some posters earn their place in my interest level. There are only a few, I completely ignore, unless the misquote me or try to restate in their words and thoughts what they think I said, or wished I had said. I cannot let anything like that go unchallenged.
As has been previously stated the biggest void is/has been the refusal by some to address an issue....any issue. The responses are usually party line/talking points or attack the messenger...doesn't require much thinking to operate that way.
I am always curious about the real persona when eye ball to eyeball VS when they are insulated from social interface reality behind the keyboard.
It does have a somewhat distorted entertainment value, at times!
Some of you may recall the tone of this forum prior to the 2008 election. That will return as we get closer. I still believe some that have "appeared" to have dropped off the radar, post election, are reincarnated in some of the current identities on the political forum.

Good Points and well taken. I tried to be hatful back at them, but found I was not very good at it so I always came up on the short end of the insult.\\

Just for Information purposes, this is what you see when you are posted on by someone you have blocked: This message is hidden because XXXXXXXX is on your ignore list.
I X'd out the poster's name to protect the identity of the person.
I feel better already. Thats for the advice Admin. :a040:

No missunderstanding that. Maybe more of this attitude would help.
Being a retired Army man with 22 years service, I salute you sir. As a matter of fact, If I can figure out how, I will update my profile.

To the last two posters.
VillagerII, 20 years, 4 months and 13 days AD, US Army, a grunt then got smart and got into the MP Corp, ended my career as an investigator. So I salute you back. BTW I worked for a living, a Senior NCO upon retirement. LOL
Villagegolfer, I try, but don't always success in placing brain in gear before engaging mouth. Sometimes mouth over loads brain.
More honesty would be helpful on this forum. We all know that our current crop of crooks in the foggy bottom are not looking out for the general welfare of the average American Citizen. Impolitness and criminal activity does not start from the bottom and work up, it starts at the top and works down.

Being a military brat and young and dumb and full of P & V, as soon as I turned 18 could got wait to sign up. Airborne infantry, see that is dumb part and the young part. The P & V part was 4 tours in RVN or maybe that was also young and dumb. Have to think about that one. Then got smart, MP's look mighty good.

The advice of ADMIN was very good advice. I have placed a couple of posters on my ignore list.
I do enjoy the spirited opinions of BKCunningham, RichieLion, Dale, and also Bucco. I know there are others that are excellnt posters and I enjoy them as well.
There are a couple that have gotten under my skin so I no longer see their posts.
Let's keep this forum interesting but not insulting to each other.

:agree:I assume you are describing the members of Congress?;)
Growing up in my family we were required to debate both religion and politics but we all knew better than discuss cooking receipes...Now that could get you into trouble. As a result I have learned that some folks can really get hot under the collar...and rightly so. Both religion and politics represent a lot about who we are and our core beliefs. So being as subtle as a train wreck is not advisable. Someone made a similar statement but as one Speaker of the House (1960's) once said of all members of Congress...We are all friends after 6:00PM

I'm not sure if Villager II is referring to me when he said he sent a PM trying to make peace. Villager II sent me a unsolicited PM advising me of a "surf 'n turf" night event at the Havana Club, and that was the extent of the message. It wasn't an invitation. I was kind of puzzled by the notice. It was the first correspondence I ever had from Villager II, and I didn't respond to it. (my bad, I guess). "Make peace"???; I don't know if there was any thing to make peace over. I have never had harsh words with Villager II.
Maybe the above quote is not referring to me, but I did get that PM. I just wanted to explain MY situation.
I referring to Villager II in the third person, because if I am the "culprit", he won't be reading this............I guess.

Yeah as a nation we have lost our ability to engage in civil debate. Just listen to the sparring by the talking heads on the news station...shouting over one another believing that he talks the fastest and the loudest wins:cus:
We all need to get back to seeking understanding and not going directly to securing agreement

You could say the same for this site. No matter how hard some try to debate, the small group of cowards always seem to find a way to get an argument started. I am going to leave Political for a while and hope it cuts some of the cancer out of this site. See y'all in the rest of TOTV but just not here for a while. I have let a few idiots get under my skin and knowing they are just loud mouth cowards does not help. I just was not raised with that kind of cruelness. Bye for now, and hope everyone enjoys the site.

Rubicon~ Maybe we are related? Similar upbringing and looking back I greatly appreciate it. As you say, religion and politics are a very large part of who we are. I just don't understand what better discussions there could possibly be. These two subjects help us to grow and learn and mature, and I never want to stop doing any of the three. But I can't do any of them with my fingers in my ears, my head in the sand, or the ignore button on! Plus the more mature I can get, the more friends I am liable to have after 6pm!

Someone has me on their ignore list because I refer to Obama as "B. Hussein Obama." He makes fun of everybody that doesn't adhere to his shallow view of this world. He listens to MSNBC like it is the Gospel. When you give facts and links, he does not give any information or opinion, he just attacks the poster or the poster's links.I really feel sorry for this misinformed individual. He really thinks his wise cracks are cute, too.:ohdear:

I honestly don't get why you care if "someone" has placed you on their ignore list. :ohdear: By caring about it, you give him power over you. Move on! There are many others who enjoy reading the opinions of everyone who posts in Political!

Bingo, Barefoot. There are plenty of posts I ignore. I don't comment on them; that's it.
Posters?; why would I ignore a poster? Sometimes even the "jerks:)" make a point that's thought provoking and I would be remiss not to entertain their view. (Some may put me in that category, and that's fine, as long as you're not publicly rude)
How fragile are we that we cannot stand and listen to another's opinion? My ideas are my ideas, they're not my children.
