This board, and this is my opinion only, is being ruined. It is one thing to have "spirited" discussion on candidates and issues, but we are being "flamed" and I hope I am using the correct word.
First of all, could you please begin to enforce the copyright law...ie, you have to supply links and quotation marks so that other posters can look it up for themselves. I believe that is a mandate that must be enforced.
Secondly, while posting personal remarks to posters is not acceptable, can we ask that any personal attacks on people unrelated to issues must be substantiated with a link ?
Thank you for your consideration !

You think it bad now. Wait a couple months. Things will really heat up.
Now, this is The United States of America. We have a Constitution. We also have the right of Freedom of Speech. Everyone gets to exercise that right, even if you don't like it. I might not like what you have to say, but I will defend your right to say it. As long as you don't yell, "Fire" in a crowded theater, you can say what you like. I don't have to believe you or listen to you, but you have a right to say it.
So put your big boy pants on and stop crying.

ok..for the record I was here during both the primary and general election of 2008 and survived.
But the copyright law is a LAW..not something that the administrators can ignore..they can ignore the flaming but not that.
And also for the record we had heated exchanges during the 2008 campaign both primary and general election but nothing with people getting kicked off and coming back just to FLAME.
But you are correct, you have the right to say what you want and to further clarify your misunderstanding...it has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with my agreeing or not.....it has to do with an adult tone...it has to do with the constant personal stuff with a complete lack of discussion of issues.
you want to disagree on issues, fine...you want to play a childish game of trying to run down somebody's character..not my game but as you say you can do it.
I made this thread and a few posts for one reason....can do two things...run away and allow the board to simply become 100% that way and it will because these folks dont even have the respect to be honest about who they are...OR make it as public as possible and if the other posters on here are of the same mind as you..that is does not matter...then fine with me. BUT NOBODY should have to read MADE UP GARBAGE with no link or credibility or the personal attacks. If that is what is wanted, that is fine..as you say...it is a free country

Bucco, I'm going to consider your post and comments a petition. Please consider my comments my signature on your petition to the new owner.
Please, enforce the copyright rules. Tony was very strict about this and there is a reason he was strict. It can get TOTV sued, and shut down this wonderful site. In addition to copyright laws; it is also very, very helpful to be able to read the full content and context of information provided. You have to be given the source of information in order to learn and understand someone's point and to have a real discussion.

Also, the face-to-face rule. I wasn't around TOTV back when the political was first put into an opt-in separate category. But from what I've read that was going on back then, we aren't too far from that same situation today on TOTV.

Thanks BK......hope others feel the same way. With all the problems in the world and nation that can be discussed, we get nobody speaking on Libya, Syria, or anything that does not end up name calling. YES..it is a political board and that will inspire likes and dislikes on politicians stands ON ISSUES.
On copyright...it is a LAW and you are right the other administrators honored that law. You just cannot come on and say what you want and say that somebody said or did this or that....you just cant make things up to fit !
Thanks again BK...will try to shut for awhile now...always nice to talk with you and speaking of copyright enforcement, you and I always abid by that and I cannot tell you how much I learn that way.

If you would like to contact the Administrators directly you can send a PM to Admin or email to talkofthevillages@gmail.com to discuss concerns.
Please report any post that is of concern from a copyright standpoint by clicking on the red triangle in the upper right corner of the post and we can review or have our council review.
If someone (the user and not the user's views) are directly attacked in the political forum please click on the red triangle in the upper right corner of that post and it will be sent to us for review. We ask that users do not take it upon themselves to retaliate and allow us to review. All issues are documented and addressed through various methods. If a user continues to attack a user it will lead up to removing posting privileges and or a ban on the account.
Please send us a message if we can further assist in any way.
