Hello,
Just curious how many NYSDOCS retiree's have relocated to TV? Do any of you associate with one another? Golf? Lunch? I am trying to convince one of my good friends to make the move when I do. Gonna try and convince him to do a Lifestyle visit together. Any information or comments would gladly be accepted.

Being a busybody and a dumb blonde...I need to ask what is a NYSDOC?
I am guessing that would be a physician previously practicing in New York state?
Or perhaps a nice younger sensational driver of Cadillac?

Nobody replied so far. How about any other NYS retired employee's. Did you find any Dr's who participate in the Empire Plan Medical Insurance?

I am a retired NYS teacher. I went back to work for the NYSDOCS and I ran recreation programs for inmates for over 10 years. I bought my home here in January 2009 and I retired from DOCS in October 2009. I met a retired NYSDOCS corrections sergeant at Lopez one night and bump into him from time to time. He and his wife love The Villages.
I had a six day preview package tour of The Villages. I always thought that it was too good to be true. Free golf, numerous clubs and activities and free entertainment in the squares every evening. The Villages sells itself with no pressure from a sales person. I love it here. Tell your friends in New York to take a chance......they won't regret it.

Hi redjpang, my husband retired from NYSDOC on 10/27/2005. We have
been permenant residents in TV since 10/30/2005. As you can see we wasted no time in becoming a frog and we love it here! We only know of one other NYSDOC retiree and that person was a superintendent at a correctional facility. There could be others but we haven't met up with them yet. To answer your question re Empire Plan....we haven't had a problem finding providers. If you don't mind my asking...what area of NYS did you work? We are from Saratoga Springs, NY and my husband started at Greenhaven, transferred to Great Meadow and finally retired from Mt McGregor.
