Never watched it from the first showing so no need to start now. I question their interpretation of the word stars.

I read or heard that Nancy Grace would be one of the contestants.

I'm not so sure I want to see Chaz Bono dance. Does he qualify as a star?

Hope Solo is the closest "star" I can determine from the list. But people love that show. I have friends that watch every episode. I have never seen the show myself.

It is a shame that there are no real stars; but we will still watch it, just for the dancing, music, and entertainment value. We like to watch shows like this at night on DVR while we are chatting, checking emails, etc.

I will watch. It is always fun to see anyone, star or not, try something that is out of their comfort zone and succeed. These folks put a lot of hard work into this and I applaud them!

We think Tom Bergeron is a great host- he's fast on his feet and very funny! We also prefer the original co-host over Brooke.

I have always enjoyed watching the show and will continue to do so. The show chooses controversial guests every season; this season more so. For the most part, the pros try to do a good job teaching their guests how to dance ballroom. I also enjoy the banter with the judges and contestants. Bruno, Len, and Carrie Anne are a good team of judges and play off each other very well. Tom Bergerond is a riot and quick with humorous responses.

Dancing with the Wannabe's?
Dancing with the used-to-be's.
Kind of like auto races, some people HAVE to watch, hoping to see someone they hate crash and burn.:boom:

I'm not a fan. But I applaud anyone who puts themselves "out there". So easy to sit back and ridicule. So hard to go beyond your comfort zone!

yep, for us it also about the dancers and their abilities. Will Derek Huff be back? Probabably not since his neck was hurt but wow can he dance and so creative in making routines. Funny how some feel it is a waste of time and others a circus...that is the beauty of it all...we all have different tastes.

YES, Derek will be back and I think he is paired with Ricki Lake. We watch it all the time. I like the music, seeing people learning to dance and I especially like it when the professionals dance. I am not at all upset by the cast. An interesting bunch....

:agree: Glad Derek is back...he's my favorite. I really enjoy watching the show. Doesn't matter who the cast is. I enjoy watching the progress of the dancers.

So you think you can dance? If you want to see progress and talent for dancing I don't think you can beat these contestants. And we enjoy watching the auditions at the beginning of the season to see how good some of the ones are who don't make the cut. Although it is a "voting" show, it seems that the viewers are getting more and more discerning and it is not just a popularity contest. And I can't say enough about the choreographers, especially the contemporary ones. And the Pasodoble numbers have been incredible. Amazing how some of the dancers who have had no formal training can pull of such professional performances. Great entertainment if you like watching dancing.

Nope, never have, never will. I said that about golf too, but I'm pretty sure about this one. Don't see any socially redeeming qualities.

It is a good show. It has gotten a little corny...trying to broaden spectrum I guess.
They definitely seem to be having a hard time attracting REAL stars, hence more entertainment intent than stardom efforts (they think).
We will see how this season goes...Bono is nothing more than bait for the show...plus or minus.

This is a continuation by Hollywood types in the deconstuction of America. Is this the best so called "talented artist" can come up with for viewers.

Many years ago I used to watch a station that had ballroom dancing contests. They did the tango, samba, waltz, etc. It was very interesting to watch. The best part was that there was very little talking. The judges picked out the winners from each group and gave a short recap as to why they were picked and went on the the next level. That made it interesting.
Dancing with the Stars is a mind numbing experience. They cannot shut up. That alone made me decide that this was not worth watching. All these supposed talent shows do is talk, talk, talk!

You do well with this comparison. Style class dignity grace civility vis a vis vulgarity, rudeness, ego-centric and lack of true class...but the main problem most candidate simply can't dance . Here we have a dance contest and the voting is based on who has the largest fan base...

I don't think it is meant to be taken seriously. .... Like any reality show it is about sensationalism, and emotions, the unexpected talent, the falls and mishaps, who lost the most weight! Anything to grab a viewing audience .... Very little art involved.

I noticed KathieI is a dancer. Wonder how many of those posting and those reading are TV dancers? Or, are most of those postings are members I see sitting around watching and listening to music and dancers dancing at LSL and Spanish Spring Centers?:icon_wink:

Yes, I will be watching. Although I'm not particularly pleased with some of the changes that were made last season it's still a pleasant way to spend an evening. What we need to do is get away from all the murders, so called police shows, "reality" shows where the contestants go through fearful situations on deserted islands yet never mess up their hair or their beard doesn't grow for several months. A little escapism can be fun and DWTSs celebrities do work hard at improving themselves in the name of entertainment.

I love dancing and participate in three dance groups in TV. I also dance at the squares when the music moves me! Not just a spectator!
