We will be returning for our second visit to The Villages:a040:, on December 15th. Can anyone share what we can expect to see and do? Are The Squares decorated? Streets decorated? Christmas music live on The Squares? Any special events happening? Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

Everything gets decorated ... some houses are spectacular! A special event for us is the first lighting of the Big Tree in each Town Square. The Rec Guide and the Daily paper will give you lists of lots to do!

They have beautiful big Christmas trees on the squares and have a tree lighting event with lots of different performance groups participating.

Every night between Thanksgiving and Christmas there is some sort of presentation in the Church on the Square in addition to the squares. Lots of little special events, they'll all be in the paper. You might want to start looking on web in October to see if there are any special shows you'd like to go to, you can order tickets online. Lots of decorations, etc....it's a fun time!

Yeah, you will love it in December! We rented the entire month last December. Just be sure to bring some long sleeves and jeans. It was so cold last December we never put on a pair of shorts and used a jacket most days!:coolsmiley:

Yes, many of the homes and entire neighborhoods are very nicely decorated and yes, there is a giant tree in each townsquare. However, perhaps my expectations were way too high, but I thought that beyond the two trees in the two squares that the rest of the townsquares would be transformed into a Disney-esque wonderland. This sadly does not happen and for the most part you would hardly know it is Christmas in the commercial part of the townsquares.
Sorry for the bah humbug perspective.

I guess all the more reason to plan a trip to Disney World early December....been there before at Christmas and it's magical!

We will be at Disney for four days during our December visit. Sounds like we'll be in for a holiday treat between Disney and The Villages. Counting the days.:a040:

Does anyone know if there are those beautifully decorated trees like you see in the decorator shops available for rent during Christmas. Would rather rent than store all year. Thx, BJ

I do recall a white bearded man in a red speedo passing me when I was out for my golf cart driving lesson back in July! I thought he was laughing at my driving! :laugh:HOHOHO:laugh:
