Looking for recommendation/experiences for kitchen for Quartz installation.
Any recommendations for installation contractor?
Does Home Depot do quality quartz countertop work? They have low price but quality?
What type of issues/surprises should we expect?
Any recommendations for thickness (2, 3 or 4 cm)?
Any other experience with quartz selection/installation that may help?

In NY we had our quartz countertop done by Home Depot. Between the contractor and Home Depot the installation was a breeze. At the time we got out countertop (5 years ago), the color we chose determined the thickness. You will love the quartz. No sealing, can cut right on the countertop, and pastry rolls out beautifully.

We used the Home Depot in Lady Lake and had no problems or issues. The only thing to check on is where a seam may be depending on the size of your installation. Discuss this with the guy who comes out to measure so if you get a seam you will know exactly where it will fall on the countertop. They are slightly visible. I am very happy with the quartz.

Also used Home Depot and had no problems. Did my own tearout and saved some money doing that. Used 2mm with a front that shows 4 mm and decortive edge. Went with an undermout black grantite sink and single mount ss faucet. Had to order the sink and faucet as they were not stock items. The installers I had were very good, but guess that can vary by who you get. Quartz is a very strong man made product and has a more uniform look then grantite. Some like this, some do not. As said also, make sure you are aware of the seam and where it will be.

We used Diamond Flooring, near Five Guys off Rolling Acres. They were very reasonable and they did an excellent job. We had Corian in our last house, quartz here. We find that the quartz, although beautiful, shows fingerprint marks etc., thus needing more frequent clean ups. Other than that, there is no care for our quartz countertops.

Don't really know what your mean by "fingerprint marks" - I guess your quartz color is very different from ours? We've had our beautiful quartz countertops for 7 years....and we still love them, and we've not had that experience regarding fingerprints and marks. The color that we chose has a sandy background with chunks of coppery colored flecks. We have undercabinet lighting and the quartz just sparkles. It is so easy to keep clean and is always so cool to the touch. Would definitely do it again.

We just had ours done by Ocala Kitchen & Bath on 466..Price was great, installation was perfect..and Melissa the designer helped us with paint colors & finishing touches to TOTALLY transform our house. We checked other prices and when you add up all the "extras" some places add on..it was cheaper to go with the "pros"

What are the differences/advantages or disadvantages of quartz versus granite? We are seriously considering granite but this discussion has caught my attention. I am not a handy man or wise on these things.

One of the biggest advantages of quartz over granite is that quartz does not emit radon gas and sometimes granite does. Quartz doesn't chip and you don't have to seal and re-seal it.

We had quartz in our last house and would have it now, but it wasn't available when we picked the colors and things here. We elected to go with laminate and upgrade some time in the future.
