Hi! My husband and I will be closing on our new house in Buttonwood on 10/3. We will not be fulltime until the spring of 2013, but plan many "mini" trips. My parents have a house in Amelia, and they were planning on checking on our house, etc. I just contacted The Villages insurance company about putting insurance on our new home, and they said they would only insure it if we hired a Property Management company and provided them with a signed contract from that company. Have others of you who aren't living in The Villages full time had to hire a property management company? If so, can you recommend one? FYI, I asked if we could just "hire" my parents and provide a written agreement with them, and were told "no". Thanks for any wisdom!!!

Tracy

I wanted to add that we are NOT planning on renting the house out.

Find another insurance company. Having a home watch person is a good idea. Having an insurance company that dictates what type is not.

That IS a great answer, thank you. I'm still curious if others in our situation (buying a house 1-2 years before being able to be there full-time) have been required to hire a property management company by their insurer. We are so excited to buy our home, and I know this is just a little bump in the road, but it is still frustrating me.

We bought with the intention of being there 6mos a year. Had no problem getting insurance. You don't have to live there 6 consecutive mos. Who says your mini trips won't add up to 6mos?

Same experience with TV Insurance. I think "one hand washes the other" as each TV entity tries to generate business for another JMO. If I really looked into this, who has the only property management company? TV?

We went with Allstate out of Southern Trace and have/had a house watcher

23 days until I am a FROG!

IF you can't find anyone to insure with do as this "poster" said!! I think I would anyway...tell them you're seasonal.

Hoping you get all the stressers out of the way so you can enjoy this adventure.

We just purchased a patio home to rent out. We obtained insurance without having a rental agreement through Nationwide insurance company.

Talked with Cinda from the Andy Anderson Agency 352-323-8190. Plus they were a lot less expensive than going through TV.
