Does anyone belong to any other forums besides TOTV?

Early Retirement.org and bogleheads.org ---a forum of investing and personal finance. Also a Civil war re-enacting forum.
I belong to two, one I'm a moderator on, a skeptics site, and the other is a site for those who have lost loved ones.

Two boating forums, a sports car forum, and a model airplane forum. They all work like TOTV. All kinds of people, all kinds of ideas.

A skeptic site, that sounds interesting.

I was just going to say the same thing. Pooh, it sounds interesting, can you tell us more about it? There are some of us here that would really fit in, when we're not busy reading Political posts. :024:

Two Labradoodle - Goldendoodle rescue sites, e-agent for an international
donation site for very sick or terminally ill Doodles, and a conversation site for
Doodle owners throughout the world. Lots of learning, rescuing, helping, and fun. Plus, former HOA site.

I'm sure some might fit in. I've been a member since 1999 and over the years, the joint was a jumpin' so to speak. The forum was broken down into three boards, critical thinking, political and conversation....that's the one I'm a moderator on. Now things are quite slow, many have moved on to different arenas, jobs, different interests. We still have posters, but posts in the critical thinking forum are fewer these days. You have to understand that this board was in existence long before I joined it and for many years, the topic under scrutiny was the existence of God. I'm one of the few believers that was active on the board and it led to many interesting and learning posts and threads. We're all very much alike, believers and non-believers and over the years, we've shared many things with our fellow board members...our blessings as well as our tragedies. Some members have passed on, some have suffered illnesses that keep them away now. There were physicians, teachers, homemakers, computer experts, retired individuals, singers, songwriters, young adults still in school, lecturers, artists, people with so many different backgrounds, personalities, experiences. A number of our posters were from other countries and some still are. Being a member of this board has taught me many things about message boards and the people that frequent them. I've learned how and when to "fight" on a message board. One learns not to attack the poster, but to pay attention to the topic and discuss the topic. Personal attacks do nothing to strengthen your position. After writing sporadically for a few months, one day I got to the board to talk about "contact" I had received from my deceased pooch, Max. Of course, our skeptics had a field day with this particular post and the day was off and running. Well one thing led to another and at 4:30 I decided I had better get out of my sleep attire and get dressed before hubby got home. It was a great day and on that day, I "officially" became a member of the gang... ;)
During the 9/11 tragedy, we had members who were in New York and gave us sort of first hand info about what had happened and what was happening. It was spooky and a day I'll never forget. One of our members was from another country, very outspoken against our government and spent the entire day posting against our country, the event, etc...on and on. Needless to say, it was a more than active day on that board.
Things aren't like that any longer...member numbers on boards wax and wane....we're in a slower period at the present.
With that particular information, why don't you come on in for a look see if you like. PM me if you want the address and I'll be happy to send it along.

I belong to an X-Files forum - still going strong after all these years. I guess you would call that an "anti"-skeptics forum.

Only one other - and I don't visit it every day as I do TOTV.
Same operating format, similarly friendly folks, many from Europe as well as the U.S. It's a cruising fans site.
