Had my first dental visit today since moving here, and was told I should have fluoride varnish done twice a year because we don't have fluoride in our water. The dentist suggested this is because of the old 1950's rumor that fluoridation is a communist conspiracy to poison americans. Here is a link showing the areas in Florida with and without fluoride...

although it is only acccurate through 2008. I have just emailed our district gov to ask what we need to do to get our water up to standard. Older people are very susceptible to caries especially when we develop dry mouth.

No Fluoride, but probably every other element on the periodic table...
I thank God if fluoride isn't added to our water. There's a lot of research indicating that fluoride is not good for us.
Here are some references from Dr. Mercola's site.

Fluoride Can Impair Thyroid Function. Fluoride may directly or indirectly interfere with thyroid function, and can be more harmful to older women, who are more prone to develop hypothyroidism.
Fluoride Linked to Lower IQ and Neurological Impairment. The Centers for Disease Control claims that fluoride is safe, but the Environmental Protection Agency believes that fluoride can impair neurological function.
Anti-Fluoride Efforts Buoyed By Sulfuryl Fluoride Ban. The recent ban on the use of sulfuryl fluoride as a food fumigant shows that the war against fluoride is gaining ground.
Fluoride Can Damage Your Bones... Half of the fluoride you ingest accumulates in your skeleton, where it can stay for up to 20 years and cause skeletal fluorosis and bone fractures.
Fluoride in Your Pineal Gland Might Cause Cancer. Fluoride in drinking water can harm your pineal gland and alter melatonin production, which raises your risk of Alzheimers disease, cancer, and other diseases.
Fluoride Destroys Bone Strength and Can Cripple You. Numerous studies have shown that excessive fluoride levels in your body can lead to skeletal fluorosis, a crippling disease that destroys bone strength.

Thank your lucky stars there is NO fluoride ADDED to the Sumpter county water supplies................Hmmmm......let's see...( says the aluminum industry )....we have a :cus: TOXIC WASTE PRODUCT from our aluminum industry...we can't dump it on the ground because it will seep into OUR drinking water :yuck: and KILL EVERYBODY in THIS town..:ohdear:....what shall we do with this crap  ????????????....HE*L YEAH, I"VE GOT IT.. :jester: ....we will sell it :icon_twisted: as a "tooth decay preventative" and have them put it in EVERYBODY ELSE"S :evil6: water supply, a little at a time.....Since 1965 Canada has thought it to be a cause of cancer.....and The University of Western Ontario has some mighty :faint: scary results from studies they have done.....NUFF SAID.

How about from a refrigerator dispenser? That's tap water and I don't think the filter removes fluoride.

Try reading the "Annual Drinking Water Quality Report". It is prepared and sent out yearly by O.M.I. Comes with your Amenity Bill.
Utility Office 753-1756. That's 352 area code from New Jersey.

I've been distilling my drinking water at home for ten years to remove the fluoride.
